Cy.

So we've gone from Faith Juliet to Cy.

Very unconventional, but definate sentimental things behind it for us.

Is it nice for a girl or is it just cruel? lol.

Cy is so different to Faith Juilet. Poles apart.

Faith Juliet is pretty and different. But people will know how to say/spell it.

Cy is hard to say/spell. And not pretty imo.

ForeverOptimistic · 22/02/2009 12:11

I really don't like it. Sorry.

VanillaPumpkin · 22/02/2009 12:11

Cy as in Si as in Simon?????
It is not a name. Sorry. Awful.

VanillaPumpkin · 22/02/2009 12:12

Cydney??? Syd Cyd???

SecondhandRose · 22/02/2009 12:12

One of the supermodels is it Cindy Crawford? Has a son called Cy and a friend of mine has a son called Cy. Definitely a boys name and for a long time I thought it was short for something else.

There are so many beautiful girls names to choose from...............

NorthernLurker · 22/02/2009 12:13

Very unconventional is one way of describing it.

Totally bonkers would be another.

Come on - your daughter will have to spell and explain this for the whole of her life! Your 'definate sentimental things' may embarass the hell out of her.

If you must can't you use it as a short so she has some options?

Cynthia
Cecily
Cecilia
Serenity
Serena

Only ever heard of it for a boy, but you could start a new trend

Lulubee · 22/02/2009 22:04

Wishy washy. You know 'Siiigghhhhh'. Better if short for something I think.

Pinkbump3 · 23/02/2009 11:48

i know a cy who is male (adult) Who gets nicknamed cy the pshyco
i would say more male than female and sounds quite harsh for female (my opinion)

But your choice and brave to ask opinions of others,i always think when someone asks "what do you think of this name" you tend not to like it, as when someone says "this is the name" you just accept it!

personally i have chose my babys name and everyone will find out when she is born as i am not interested in other peoples opinion i love it and so does dp and my other dc and thats all that matters lol!

SweetCheeksLovesSweetTalk · 23/02/2009 11:50

My BIL is called CY - not an attractive name IMO

Dozymare · 23/02/2009 11:52

i know a girl called Cyanna..much better than just cy if you really must use it.......

seeker · 23/02/2009 11:54

It's fine if you really want her to spend her WHOLE life with people saying "What was that?" every time she tells them her name. And then "What's it short for? How do you spell it? Where does it come from?"

Please don't do it - it's such a big mistake. How about Cynthia, or Celia or something and call her Cy for short?

MumOfBaby · 23/02/2009 12:23

We're back to Faith lol

Juliet is lovely. Why not Juliet Cy (or Juliet Cyanna, even).
I probably missed some hideously long thread about this before, right?

Boco · 23/02/2009 12:29

It's definitely a boy's name.

It's the name of the psychopathic brothel owner in Deadwood, Cy Tolliver, or the famous painter, Cy Twombly. Very odd for a girl.

henrys7thwife · 23/02/2009 16:57

Cy for a girl? DEFINITELY not.

I knew a boy at school called Saul - his second names were Jordan & Zy, I thought that was quite cool. But definitely NOT Cy for a girl.

MrsMattie · 23/02/2009 18:05

Cy is dreadful. It's...just horrid. Faith Juliet was so pretty

felixthecat123 · 23/02/2009 18:22

It sounds like a boy's name to me.

Elle McPherson (supermodel) has a son called Aurelius Cy, known as Cy.

MumOfBaby · 24/02/2009 21:21

Lol Mrs Mattie, don't worry, it's still looking like Faith Juliet at the moment

OP posts:
AnybodyHomeMcFly · 24/02/2009 21:24

Cecily or Cicely much nicer

Sidge · 24/02/2009 21:25

Cy?

It's not even a name, it's just 2 letters put together. It can be short for Cyrus and Cyril. Boys names. Please don't do it!

Faith and Juliet are beautiful names.
