I know this sounds silly but I cant decide if Freya is a very pretty or very ugly name.... What do you think?

Very pretty.

dizzydixies · 16/02/2009 11:06

I like it

although know of someone with surname Benson that used it and could get Freybentos pies out of my head

so not if your surnams is Bentos or Benson

Claire2301 · 16/02/2009 11:10

Really like it and not so common now as it was a few years ago, we had three Freya's in a pack of 22 girls!!

EsmeWeatherwax · 16/02/2009 11:11

Its always one i think you have to be careful with, as regards to surnames. Its quite an exotic name, and with a plain sounding surname I think its sounds a bit daft.

That was quite diplomatic for me. I actually have a complete aversion to the name Freya...

nigglewiggle · 16/02/2009 11:14

Pretty, but common, as in popular

tiggerlovestobounce · 16/02/2009 11:19

Lovely name, but very popular, there seem to be a lot of little girls called Freya at the moment.

Nicki10 · 16/02/2009 11:28

I'm not keen on it I'm afraid and it is very common in these parts.

Bucharest · 16/02/2009 11:30

Neither. It's just a bit 90s.

EsmeWeatherwax · 16/02/2009 11:32

Aye, thats the other thing, there's loads of them around here too.

moonstonefairy · 16/02/2009 11:37

Yes its populat but very beautiful. I love it.

Madmentalbint · 16/02/2009 11:47

very pretty

Thunderduck · 16/02/2009 11:48

It's pretty.

Beantin · 16/02/2009 11:54

pretty - yes, take care with surname.
for individuality, can spell it with a 'j'? Freja - more european...

gagamama · 16/02/2009 14:06

It makes me think of the bras, but it is pretty.

Sunflower100 · 16/02/2009 14:45

Its a lovely name and I know a lovely Freya

Knax · 16/02/2009 20:29

pretty!

BooBooChicken · 16/02/2009 20:34

i am biased as i have a freya myself so i think it is very pretty!
and not too popular here (central scotand) i have only met one other freya so far (dd is 8)

blametheparents · 16/02/2009 20:36

Really shouldn't have clicked on this thread, big risk of me being upset as I have a Freya! (I'm not that sensitive really, I am very happy with my choice)
I think it is a lovely name.

Lilyloo · 16/02/2009 20:37

Lovely name wanted it for dd2 but we have a lot of Freyas round here.

changednametosaymysurname · 16/02/2009 20:47

I have always loved the name Freya since reading a book years ago where the main character was called Freya. Unfortunately I realised it wasn't an option for my future daughters when I married Mr Friar!

pamelat · 16/02/2009 21:08

pretty but very popular.

It is very popular around here, you can not turn around without looking at a Freya, I'm afraid. All under the age of 8 though.

dolphin83 · 25/02/2010 16:11

Love the name freya (im biased though as its my daughters name!) Not many around here either, ive never met one!

Fanfare · 25/02/2010 17:05

Very pretty. But it is very popular and I think of it as a very "now" name. I heard it described as a "Fiona of the noughties".
