Rhys - fine if you are Welsh

Ryan - OK but a bit bleurgh!

Luca - fine if you are Italian

Lucas - OK

Liam - prefer William

Connor - not my choice

None of these really but DH is Italian and he is called Luca which I think is a beautiful name....but only if youare Italian!

If I had to pick one, it would be Lucas, but that's probably due to Lucas North connotations rather than the name itself

Sesi · 11/02/2009 18:37

Luca is so lovely. I would choose it but it has already been taken in my immediate family.

I don't think you have to be Italian. It works really well in English.

LynetteScavo · 11/02/2009 18:38

Lucas or Luca.
Don't like the others

Madmentalbint · 11/02/2009 18:39

Luca

bodiddly · 11/02/2009 18:40

Lucas or Luca (though Luca is being used now for girls as well as boys). Not keen on the others I am afraid.

LaDiDaDi · 11/02/2009 18:46

Luca or Lucas

loobylu3 · 11/02/2009 18:54

Lucas or Luca. Don't like the others I'm afraid.

Phoenix · 11/02/2009 20:10

If this baby is a boy he will be Rhys (we're not welsh)

Also like Luca.

annasmami · 11/02/2009 21:53

I don't like Luca, unless you're Italian and male .

Like the name Andrea, Luca works well for Italian men, but sound odd/feminine in other languages imo.

From your list, I prefer Lucas and Rhys.

Hulababy · 11/02/2009 22:32

Not really overly keen on any, sorry. If I were to choose I think I would prefer Lucas or Luca.

Leo9 · 11/02/2009 22:57

Luca is by far the nicest.

I'm afraid all the others are just too 'rough boy' for me; maybe it's different in other areas but round here those are the rough boy's names, with the exception of Rhys, which I just don't like!

RachieB · 11/02/2009 23:25

I have a ( 13 yr old ) Connor

from your list i also like Luca and Lucas

my fave boys names at the moment though are Theo,Noah,Finlay,Flynn

x

SlartyBartFast · 11/02/2009 23:26

my favourite is Lucas

SlartyBartFast · 11/02/2009 23:28

or luca,
but one of those has ER connotations

lovely

AnathemaDevice · 12/02/2009 09:40

My favourite is Liam, can't use it as it doesn't sound right with our surname I would use William though, so he could be Billy, Will or Liam.

pixiemoon · 12/02/2009 13:33

Rhys, but I love Welsh names (and think it should be said with a proper welsh 'Rh', otherwise anglicise it like 'Reece'!)

Bucharest · 12/02/2009 14:39

Lucas.

Please not Luca. (a) it's the Italian equivalent of Jack- in the sense that there are gerzillions of them b)it just sounds wrong being shouted across Asda.I know an Italian child named Kevin and that sounds just as barmy over here as Luca does over there.

Hmmm. Might go and start an AIBU to hate Luca so much thread, as I see I really do. Sorry!

seeker · 12/02/2009 14:41

Names that end in -a in English are almost invariably girl's names.

Idon't like any of them very muc, I'm afraid, but if I had to choose, it would be Liam.

SobranieCocktail · 12/02/2009 14:43

Lucas or Luca

None of the others.

branflake81 · 12/02/2009 14:48

Rhys - no
Ryan - beyond awful
Luca - only if Italian
Lucas - probably the best one, although still not to my taste
Liam - no
Connor - only if Irish
