Clementine - Clemmie for short.

I love it but have had mixed reactions from people I have mentioned it to.

I love it and had suggested it as a name for dd. Was put off by a friend who said, 'Oh no, they will get called phlegmy'.

paolosgirl · 05/02/2009 14:36

I'm not sure - I keep having visions of Clementine with her size 9 herring boxes,
who is sadly now lost and gone forever, whenever I hear this name. Which is a shame, because I WANT to like it.

frazzledoldbag · 05/02/2009 14:37

Clammy.
That's what my friends neice gets called. Not good.

MrsMattie · 05/02/2009 18:33

No. Not nice. Oranges. Big feet. Poncy.

RachieB · 05/02/2009 18:46

No,but I like Cleo though

Flightattendant12 · 05/02/2009 18:51

I love it, can you use it as a middle name if you are worried about people being rude?

mopsyflopsy · 05/02/2009 18:52

I love Clementine! It sounds very feminine and elegant imo. Also works well in French, German and probably other languages too .

SAEJ · 05/02/2009 18:53

Love Clementine - prefer it abbreviated to Mimi.

CarryOnUpTheLiffey · 06/02/2009 13:49

I don't like it. Quite harsh. Don't like the EYEn sound and Klem rhymes with phlegm.

me.no.like.

CarryOnUpTheLiffey · 06/02/2009 13:50

agree with pp, with the nn of clio i would be keener.

ChippyMinton · 06/02/2009 14:49

Like it pronounced Clemen-teen, but it might be an uphill stuggle to impose that.
