I'm so stuck! After all the negative feedback I received for Maximus I really need some great suggestions to put to my DH. Girls and boys please. I want something just a little bit unusual to balance out the dull surname. Many thanks! x

I think Maximus is afaboulos name....I went to a barbecue in the summer and there was a little boy there with that name and I have never forgotten him. Such a strong name, if you like it go with it as your instinct is always right...

Girls names for Evans...

Chloe
Molly
Tilly
Frea

The list could go on....

Thank you, madame! I must admit I was a bit gutted by all the abuse of Maximus, so it made me think that maybe I did really like the name after all...

Do you think E names can go with Evans? I quite like Estella.

I'm liking the suggestions, thanks guys. I think Arabella Evans is lovely and Jasmine too. I like Gabriel a lot but what does it get shortened to? I'm into names allowing good nicknames, like Bella.

Geraint.

Fimbo · 05/02/2009 12:37

Arabella and Isobella are such lovely names, I dislike when they are shortened to Bella.

There is a Gabriel at ds's school which is shortened to Gay bee

CharleeheartsherChains · 05/02/2009 12:55

Lee for a boy

CarryOnUpTheLiffey · 05/02/2009 13:02

Most of my favourite names don't end in 'a' so they all go well with Evans.
I don't think Estella works as well as just Estelle Evans.

Phoebe Evans, Beatrice Evans, Juliet Evans, Annabel Evans, Rachel Evans, Elizabeth Evans, Susie Evans, Dulcie Evans....

Boys are much easier because their names are less likely to end in a vowel sound.

Anything except Barry.

throckenholt · 05/02/2009 13:04

Gabriel - shortened to Gabe for the boy I know and Gabby for a girl.

hayley2u · 05/02/2009 13:05

evie evans, leah evans,
jack evans, ben evans , charlie evans

Judith
Rosanne

Marianne

Ross

All go well with Evans to my ears. I agree that Estelle Evans would sound better than Estella Evans.

madame · 05/02/2009 17:46

I think Estellla is really lovely and yes it does go well with Evans.

I think if you are worrying about whether the first name goes with the surname why don't you consider a middle name also.

MrsY · 05/02/2009 23:10

How about Maximillian instead of Maximus?

nn for Gabriel would be Gabby? or Elle/Ella?

I like Geraint Evans as it's a strong sounding name. Don't really like a name beginning with a vowel followed by a surname beginning with a vowel.

One of my best friends' maiden name was Evans and she has a short E name as her first name. I thought her whole name was lovely, scanned well and the alliteration worked well.

First name is Elin.

What about Maxwell as a Max alternative?

newmuminwonderland · 06/02/2009 15:30

I went to school with a boy named Gabriel, we called him "Gabe the Babe"!

Tiredmumno1 · 06/02/2009 15:44

I was an Evans, dd1 is an Evans. We both have E names:

Elizabeth and Evie. I miss being an Evans
