I know i am still in the very early days of pg3 (7+5) but have started thinking of possible names that go with my ds and dd. Dh is quite boring in his choices.

Ds is Jack and Dd is Ella.

Ideally i would like a name that cant be shortened but unless it's particularly unusual i am open to most names.

There are lots of names that i like but they are normally names of the dc's friends and dd already has the same name as a friends dd so would like to find a 'different' name this time if that makes sense. I love Oliver but one of ds's friends is Oliver so have to strike it from the list.

We have a pretty common surname (its a colour) so i think most names would go with it.

I think i am more stuck on boys names than girls.

Thank you in advance

I like the name Delilah and Matilda.

However these can be shortened.

What about Jill to go with Jack
Or Gerald to go with Ella (as in Ella -fitz-Gerald)

MrsBadger · 30/01/2009 15:38

James would definitely be shortened to Jimmy, surely

or is that just here in scotland

MrsBadger · 30/01/2009 16:05

I have never understoood this - Jimmy is longer than James

and it may indeed be a regional thing

RachieB · 30/01/2009 16:19

Rachel will become Rach
Alice will be Ali / Aly
Fiona will be Fi / fee

pmsl @ jack and Jill !

Thank you for the suggestions - i have to say no to most as they are either friends names, brother/BIL names or my own.

Dh has given the nod for some which is good. It's boys names that i am struggling with most

Hmmm

Evan
Adam
John
Connor
Charlie
Josh
Finn
Flynn
Sam
Sean
Peter/Pete
Aaron
Tom

P ersonally I love Evan and Finn

I agree boys names are tricky x

AprilMeadow · 30/01/2009 18:53

Evan is ds's best friend

I love Charlie but put with our surname he would have a cartoon characters name.

So far the only name we can agree on is Noah. Which i have to say i am surprised he liked. He is the kind of dh that when you say a name he says either something that rhymes or puts a surname to it or finds a tv name. I like finley but will say something like finley the fire engine. so not particularly helpful.

KatB · 30/01/2009 19:01

Ahhh now we know your surname is not Cherise or Magnolia

PMSL at Charlie - maybe not

Noah is lovely.. passes all the tests I think.

Can't think of anymore...

George?
Isaac
Joe

If you don't shorten the name AM it must be one you can lengthen hey?

Frasersmum123 · 31/01/2009 09:55

James would get shortened to Jamie - mine always does!

Frasersmum123 · 31/01/2009 09:55

Lily is lovely for a girl.

AprilMeadow · 31/01/2009 10:26
