How do you pronounce it, more like Naddia or more like Naadia? Or is it just a northern/southern accent thing?

I am Scottish and would say Naa dee ah

WowOoo · 29/01/2009 15:26

I'd say the first way. But dh has a colleague called this and she says it the second way. She is very posh!

LobstersLass · 29/01/2009 15:30

I'd say Naadia.

EachPeachPearMum · 29/01/2009 15:33

My bf at primary school was Nadd- ia- she was lovely, and I really like this name.
My friends Dsis is Naadia, but they are a european family.

Nancy66 · 29/01/2009 15:34

I would prounounce it:

Nah-dee-ah

don't like it though!

muggglewump · 29/01/2009 15:36

DD has a classmate called Nadiyah and the Na bit is more like Naa if that makes sense.

daisy5 · 29/01/2009 15:41

I love Nadia. Always think of that beautiful gymnast Nadia Commenici.

I have only ever heard it pronounced Nah-dee-a

plonker · 30/01/2009 12:02

Would pn it Nah-dia

I love it, but then I'm also a biiiiiig Nadia Comaneci fan

BlueChampagne · 30/01/2009 13:07

Long 'a' for me too. What about Nadine?

Botbot · 30/01/2009 13:08

I used to know an Iranian one, and she pronounced it with the long A.

amandine07 · 03/02/2009 18:59

I like the name Nadia but prefer Nadine as I think it's much softer sounding by comparison- especially when said with a french accent!

RachieB · 03/02/2009 19:20

i'd pronounce it Nar - di - ah

i prefer Nadine also

RachieB · 03/02/2009 19:21

oops i mean Nar - dee - ah !

GrimmaTheNome · 03/02/2009 19:25

Nahdia, and its a really pretty name.

pointydog · 03/02/2009 19:35

Naa-di-a

Leo9 · 03/02/2009 20:10

I love it too, and am another one who was a HUGE Comaneci fan, she was SO good!!!

Nah-dee-a is the pronunciation AFAIK, so I'm with the majority on this one.

Lovely name.

2pt4kids · 03/02/2009 20:13

I would say it Naddia. Prefer that to the long aaa sound

Missmodular · 04/02/2009 10:39

I had a friend called Nadia and she was called Nads for short, which isn't so nice... lovely girl though.
