Yes, lots of Viola here in Italy. Lovely name.

BlueChampagne · 23/01/2009 12:43

Warning: could sound like viler ...

epithet · 23/01/2009 12:43

I think it's lovely; there would be pronunciation issues though.

ThumbBurns · 23/01/2009 12:44

I do love it - pronounced Veeola, I presume?

Scorta · 23/01/2009 12:46

VIola

Beautiful

MrsHappy · 23/01/2009 12:47

I like it, but you have to bear in mind that people will pronounce it Vy-ola, which you may not like.

Tis a name in Shakespeare

ziggyflynne · 23/01/2009 12:52

sweet name, but does run the risk of sounding like violated...

my tip is dont discuss baby names with others as there is always one who comments on it un fairly...

MrsMattie · 23/01/2009 12:53

Not keen. Musical instrument.

lastboxoftampons · 23/01/2009 13:08

Prefer Violet - When I look at Viola quickly I read voila! Which puts me off.

Italophil · 23/01/2009 13:49

Beautiful name, but to me does not work in English, prefer Violet

ohdearwhatamess · 23/01/2009 13:57

Violet much nicer, imo.

I really like the name Viola (Twelfth Night heroine) but, for some reason, a lot of people seem to want to pronounce it like the instrument.
Violet is pretty too but Viola is prettier IMO. Violet is nice but can sound a little harsh.

RiaParkinson · 23/01/2009 21:16

Viola far sweeter than Violet but i heart shakespeare nmes

LaDiDaDi · 24/01/2009 10:30

I like it, prefer it to Violet which just makes me hear "violent".
