Another alternative is to go with a similar name as the nickname version. Our DS hates being Fin and so gets called Finty or Finbarr. Maebh is Mayflower or Maud. This option might not work for everyday use though.
Verity is a very lovely name ...

Libralovesbiscuits1975 · 22/01/2009 18:55

Used to call a girl whose last name was Verity Vez.

BikeRunSki · 22/01/2009 20:32

I know one real one, and one fictional one (Iain Banks - The Crow Road), both NN'ed Vee.

Kelix · 22/01/2009 20:34

Vee

TwentiethCenturyHeffa · 22/01/2009 20:56

My friend is called Verity and we've always called her Veri for short. It's a pretty name.

Jojay · 22/01/2009 20:57

I know a Vee

troutpout · 22/01/2009 21:13

Love the name...very beautiful
Vee

jeanjeannie · 22/01/2009 21:22

My DD2 is Verity - my dad calls her 'V' - like Jack Duckworth called Vera

She's only 8 mths so can't object (yet) but I often call her Veri

HarleyQuinn · 22/01/2009 21:27

so beautiful, Vee

The Verity in my class at school was known as "Verry" and the one at work is "Vez".

Not quite the same, but my grandmother's middle name was Averina (born 1903) and she was known as Vri.

I think Verity is a lovely name and not really long enough to need a shortened version tbh.

lotspot · 24/01/2009 22:57

i think as a teenager she will get shortened to Vez by friends - its fairly inevitable i feel being teacher at a secondary school......and tbh i think vez is pretty awful

i think Veri/Verry is really cute though (i did type 'very cute' first.....re-read it and changed it realising my accidental error )

MrsY · 27/01/2009 22:33

My cousin is either known as Vee, or Verit (the ferit!)

VerityLeigh · 18/08/2025 22:23

Hello.. Seeing how this is my name lol my family growing up called me "Ver" (pronounced like Cher) which I've always loved and preferred, yet have fallen to the nickname "V" quite a bit throughout my years..
