I want it to be something that sounds the same whether a German or an English speaker is saying it. Theo would be pronounced "Tayo" here, for example, and George as "Gay-org" so they're no good. It cuts out a lot of possiblities - ie anything starting with or including J, W, Th, R. Our first son is called Noah. These are names I like - what do you think - and do you have any suggestions?! Thank you!

I don't think there is an English equivalent of Kai, but I've noticed that it's quite popular in the UK now, I know quite a few by that name of varying ages. It's pretty straightfoward to pronounce for an English speaker too.

The name Kai has been in the top 100 UK boys names for quite a few years now - rather surprisingly I think since it is quite German. There's a Kai in the CBeebies show "Me too" as well. So I guess you don't need an English equivalent!

Kai also has Welsh origins, which explains the UK popularity

According to this:

...it's originated in at least 3 different cultures. Perfect for all those Hawaiian/Swedish couples out there too!
