is it too close to arse? Would they be teased at school?
I love the name Amon, DH is insisting his R name is the middle name and our surname begins with S.
I'm not so keen on spelling it Eamon, as it reminds me too much of that fella off the morning telly. Although we will shortly be moving to NZ, where no-one will know who he is, so I should probably get over that!
Anyway, thoughts on ARS please!

I have had three surnames and my initials have always spelt something (nothing rude), and people have always noticed. DH's initials spell his first name and he hates it.

Amon does look strange and definite teasing with those initials. I'd go with adding an extra middle name or switching first and middle name round as someone else has suggested.
Hope you manage to find a solution you like.

Um. Amon is a real name - as anyone who has seen Schindler's List should know, it was the name of the Nazi Commandant. Double no-no versus nice alternatives like Eamonn

LiffeyAnnaLivia · 02/01/2009 20:07

Is Eamonn pronounced the same as Amon. AyMun

SniffyHock · 02/01/2009 20:11

I read Amon with a short A - ie, A-mon not Ay-mon.

Don't do it - you know it's not right.

I agree, bad idea. Baby naming books always recommend cshecking to see if initials can cause a problem and these do.

thanks for your replies- I am seeing sense now! It really is the Eammon Holmes connection that's putting me off spelling it that way, but DS will grow up in NZ where no-one apart from me will make the connection.

Never mind about Eamonn Holmes!!! There are other Eamonns out there! I didn't even make the connection. It's just Irish for Edward afterall.

Really, I worry less about some guy on the other side of the World than having the initials ARS. THAT will be internationally problematic.

Arabella2009 · 13/01/2009 12:46

no body seemed intelligent enough in my schools to pick up on my initials being Arabella.Ruth.S! Actually I was christened Ruth.Arabella.S, but I'm known as my middle name Arabella. It's a risk but it never came up with me!
