Amelie?

pgwithnumber3 · 28/12/2008 21:33

Still on the hunt for a name we love for DD3 (due in 5 weeks) and on reading the thread about beautiful girls names, Amelie has stood out.

DH likes it BUT thinks we would have a lifetime of people saying "What, Emily? and us replying "FFS, NO AMELIE!".

Opinions please!

Haha, great input Dottoressa, chavvy? . Don't know where you live but the chavs round here wouldn't know how to pronounce it, let alone spell it. It's hardly Chardonnay, is it? Pg, best of luck with the birth and everything else. Amelie Faye has been glued to Tinkerbell since Christmas day, must be a fairy thing!

pgwithnumber3 · 30/12/2008 23:54

I had to laugh as well re the Chav comment but hey, everyone is entitled to their opinion. I just think Chav is a bit of an overused Daily Mail stereotype nowadays and unless I become a Burberry wearing chain smoking pitbull toting dickhead, I suppose it won't concern me.

You could always call her Amelie Burberry, has a certain ring to it

pgwithnumber3 · 31/12/2008 00:17

Now estuary that does have a ring to it...

Can't sleep, I am usually well away by this time.

SilkStockings · 31/12/2008 00:41

my dd's best friend is called Amelie and their is also an Emily in the class and no confusion. I like it.

SilkStockings · 31/12/2008 00:41

there

I'm tired

pgwithnumber3 · 31/12/2008 00:43

Thanks SilkStockings. Im tired too but can't sleep. I think being 35 weeks pg might be the problem...

Could be - is this number four on the way then? We are thinking of fourth late in 2009 but have to lose some weight first or I'll be too enormous to leave the house without a winch.

pgwithnumber3 · 31/12/2008 00:54

No sorry, DD3 is the one in my stomach! Have DD1(6) and DD2(15 months) and told I am having another girl.

You must be crazy to try for a fourth! How did you find number 3? I am so worried.

IT has been easier to go to three then from one to two for us. I have a girl (5), boy (3) and girl (9 months). They all get on really well. First two are very good friends though so they were great with DD2 from the start and love her to bits. Not always easy - sometimes feel I am drowning in the chaos and noise - but moments of pure joy - and many of them. I love seeing them together. I am quite a go with the flow type and am lucky number 3 is a chilled little person. Don;t worry - I worried too and it is really OK. And always amazing how much love you can have. Hope you get some sleep and if I don't see yo uon here before little one arrives - the very best of luck.

pgwithnumber3 · 31/12/2008 01:02

Thank you! I really am worrying as 3 children just seems so many!

I know - a friend who is happy with one said to me tonight - 'we'd best come to you since you seem to have overdone it on the children front'.

She can't get her head round it but she always makes me laugh. Get some rest. Oh- one of mine crying - got to go. Take care.

pgwithnumber3 · 31/12/2008 01:07

Night!

Apologies for any offence which, as I said, was not intended. My comment simply reflected the way the name is used here by WAG-type prep-school parents (of which there are many in my DC's playground!)

As I say, though, I apologise for any offence. I thought the OP wanted opinions/thoughts on this name. If it is any consolation, my DS's name is regularly slated on MN for being poncetastic!!

Lulumama · 31/12/2008 09:10

I can honseslty say that pgwithnumber3 is NOT a 'Burberry wearing chain smoking pitbull toting dickhead'

janx · 31/12/2008 09:48

Lovely name - but I am biased as it is dds middle name

pgwithnumber3 · 31/12/2008 12:35

LMAO Lulu, I may well become one though if I chose the name Amelie!

Lulumama · 31/12/2008 12:36

i have 2 burberry scarves and a hat

pgwithnumber3 · 31/12/2008 12:46

Yeah, but they're real aren't they Lulu? That's okay, your not a proper Chav. I am very chavish (is that a word!?) today, I am in my awful tracksuit bottoms, chapped lips and chocolate all over my top (off DD1). I have just attempted to dismantle DD2's cot, move it to her new room and set it up again all on my own. Not a good idea, she has now gone to have her nap in a cot that looks suspiciously like it is about to combust. It also has no sides on it! DH is going to kill me when he comes in.

Lulumama · 31/12/2008 12:48

of course they are real my house looks horrendous, have stripped all the beds , put some washing on and cleaned out the lounge fireplace. that is it. still got the breakfast things waiting to go in the dishwasher

pgwithnumber3 · 31/12/2008 12:50

Oh, that reminds me I need to sort the fire out. I also need to iron new curtains for baby's room, bleach down the changing table and then hoover everywhere. I hate housework, especially when heavily pregnant but if I don't do it...

I will be knackered tonight as I didn't go to bed until 2am.

OP posts:
pgwithnumber3 · 31/12/2008 12:50

Is yours a real fire Lulu? They are so messy aren't they but I love ours.

OP posts:
Lulumama · 31/12/2008 13:23

real and messy, especially as DH burnt a load of cardboard on it last night. why up so late? you need to take care of yourself!

bratnav · 31/12/2008 13:45

I love it, if our puppy hadn't turned up already bearing that name last year it would definitely be in my top 5 girls names list now.
