If you had to pick a name that you would immediately consider 'beautiful' on hearing it, what would it be?

That's funny, because some of the names Lonnie 'loves' I think are downright ugly sounding.

The thing is, we will all be old and ugly one day, I think it's best to choose a name that will fit all of: cute little baby, bubbly little girl, exhuberant teenager, confident young woman, hard-working career woman, wise old lady. Thinking just about 'beautiful' is quite limiting, possibly anti-feminist, too.

Isobel/Isabella and Grace are beautiful but over used, which taints them?

Wolfblass · 28/12/2008 20:07

Jasmine
Eden
Amara
Amelie
Annabel
Isobel
Fleur

Wolfblass · 28/12/2008 20:09

lljkk - can an exhuberant teenager, a hard working career woman and a wise old lady not fit into the category of 'beautiful' ?

My name is on here twice! And my daughter's once.

(sorry, not contributing, just a bit happy).

jojosmaman · 29/12/2008 10:54

Alexandra as the two Alex's I know, one departed way too early and one still with me are both beautiful girls in body and spirit so the name has connotations of lovely beautifulness to me! If I had a dd I wouldnt call her Alex though it would be too raw for the family of my late best friend but she would definately have this as her middle name.

How do you pronounce Anais? It looks lovely written down.

I think Genevieve is lovely to hear, say, write and see written down.

belgo · 30/12/2008 18:52

Anaïs:

An -ay - ees

or something like that.

I love most french girl's names such as Celeste and Delphine.

Love Alice and Eliza. My dds's names are beautiful, but I'm not going to give them away, but one has the second name Adrienne which I adore.

slackrunner · 30/12/2008 18:55

Both my and dd's name on here several times too.

I'll join you in being smug smugaboo

janeite · 30/12/2008 19:06

I have two dds, each with two names and three of the four names are on this thread. I like classic and/or rather flowery names and some of the ones I would say are beautiful are:
Lily
Elinor
Violet
Yolande
Abigail
Marianne
Madelaine
Miranda

None of the above are my dds' names though.
