Would you call your child names where the initials spelt another word or is that a total no no? Obviously rude ones are out but a simple word like

Sophie Theresa Elizabeth Payne

or

Ben Owen Oliver Koop

would they be ok?

I think it's absolutely fine - how often does anybody use their full name like that?

HarktheheraldAnglepoise · 21/12/2008 11:52

I would. Really don't get the obsession with intials not spelling anything!

spottyshoes · 21/12/2008 11:55

Thank goodness! We have really struggled with boys names and finally decided on one that we both really liked last night. Until I realised it spelt something. May just go for it as it just doesn't sound as good if you swap it round!
Thanks

What does it spell?

dizzyjingles · 21/12/2008 22:03

absolutely fine

although this is from the couple who used ARCD for their DD2 which said out loud is arsed

prettybutterfly · 21/12/2008 22:05

I've got a TAR. No-one's ever noticed!

MrsBadger · 21/12/2008 22:05

fine

I once worked with soeone known by their acronym, which was actually cooler than their real name

Cupofteaplease · 21/12/2008 22:08

My dd's initials are EVE, which is nice as her first name is Evie. So when she is asked for her initials when she is older and replies with E. V. it will sound out her first name too!

Sorry that was very boring, and I hadn't really made the connection until she was a few weeks old!

Cies · 21/12/2008 22:16

It's absolutely fine. In fact it's the kind of thing that 8 yos LOVE to doodle and play around with.

WellOiledWench · 21/12/2008 22:18

We have a LAW

prettybutterfly · 21/12/2008 22:25

I was born a LAW, but I'm a LAR now. I liked being a LAW.

Thanks everyone. I know a guy called Tom but only found out recently that it wasn't his actual name - only his initials but that is kind of cool.

We have 2 possibilities now a TAP or a TOP!!

I just know my family are going to comment with a no matter what!
