DS is Billy. Do you think Sally goes with his name? if not any other suggestions welcome!

Sarah - shortened to Sally - is lovely. Don't like Billy and Sally - too ORT for me!

mickeymistletoe · 18/12/2008 09:15

i like Lucy and Katy too. i just dont know any other little Sallys so it appealed all the more. My mum is lobbying for Libby or Polly. DH is useless and comes up with nothing!

My father (he of brother Bill and sister Sallie) also has a sister Catho (short for Catherine). And there is a Lucy and a Lucie in our family.

Anna8888 · 18/12/2008 09:18

Polly is lovely, but again, not so great with Billy.

bozza · 18/12/2008 09:20

Our cat is called Sally (named after the blue porsche in Cars ] and she is lovely.

mickeymistletoe · 18/12/2008 09:20

I like Sally. One of my best friends is a Sally and we refer to her as Happy Sally, because she is!!

Jenbottleofeggnog · 18/12/2008 09:26

I like Sally, it's quite unusual these days. Polly is nice too!

But I suppose the 'lly' repetition won't appeal to everyone.

Astrophe · 18/12/2008 10:13

go with Samantha/Sammy - goes nicely with Billy.

purplemonkeydishwasher · 18/12/2008 10:17

DH suggested Sally. I'm not sure about it.

ranting · 18/12/2008 10:17

I like the name Sally, I once knew a Sally who was absolutely gorgeous (and a lovely person to boot) so my opinion of the name is coloured by that. But I still like it as a name.

LiffeyCanSpellGeansaiNollaig · 18/12/2008 10:21

I like Sally, I was all set to open thread and say, lovely change! BUT not with Billy.

It's not just that they both have two syllables and end in Y, they both end in lly!

Too much! Kerry Katona has a Molly and a Lily.

Some of Anna8888's names and ggirls names are lovely.

Anya, Clara, Beth, Joy, Sadie, Phoebe, Libby (same letters as billy, but it still works better!), Rosie

LiffeyCanSpellGeansaiNollaig · 18/12/2008 10:22

Actually, Susan and Billy, there is something so break the mould about that! That would be quite cool! And Susie is lovely.

Billy and Susie, Oh I love that combo!

belcantwait · 18/12/2008 10:25

i hate it i'm afraid. but then MIL is called sally so say no more

and agree with others who say it sounds like kids tv presenters with billy.

TheGashlycrumbTinies · 18/12/2008 10:30

Sally is a bit of a "droopy drawers" name, IYKWIM.

MrsMattie · 18/12/2008 10:31

It's awful. it's like Dolly - it's just...yuck

sasamax · 18/12/2008 10:34

I vote for 'sarah' shortened to 'sally'
(I am biased tho ;))

Cies · 18/12/2008 10:35

I like Sally. But not with Billy.

How about Kate/Katy, Anna, Julie/Julia, Susan, Rachel, Lucy?

Nancy66 · 18/12/2008 10:42

Sally = dull. sorry

mickeymistletoe · 18/12/2008 11:02

oh well, i did ask!! back to the drawing board! now for a boy i was thinking of Bobby.. just kidding

OP posts:
Anna8888 · 18/12/2008 11:05

LOL mickeymistletoe at Bobby, because my father's other brother is called Robert .

My father is called David, btw.

Anna8888 · 18/12/2008 11:06

How about Alice, for a girl? I think it sounds really nice with Billy.

mickeymistletoe · 18/12/2008 11:17

Alice is lovely but when i mentioned it to DH he automatically said "alice, alice who the is alice." not the best of songs to keep hearing.

others i quite like are
Kitty
Maisy
Lucy
Kate
Lois

also keep coming back to Emma, mainly because of the book i think.

Makes me think of Sally Webster from Corrie.

seeker · 18/12/2008 12:18

Clare? I love Clare!
