Bronx Mowgli Wentz

for a boy. The poor bubs. I cannot comprehend why parents would do that to their beloved child.

What do you guys think? Does this constitute as child abuse or is it hip?

I don't think it's that bad actually, I've heard worse! No worse than any other place name doubling as a child's name.

Stars22 · 24/11/2008 10:19

I dont think Bronx is too bad on its own, imo the name Mowgli is horrible and Bronx doesnt go with the surname Wentz. But i've heard worse.

Alexa808 · 24/11/2008 10:27

Yes, it's the Mowgli bit.

Bronx is a bit though, I mean, is that where he was conceived??

Yes, the Bronx is like the jungle, hence, Mowgli doncha know!

Fiveplusbump · 24/11/2008 10:48

Tis awful .

EachPeachPearMum · 24/11/2008 10:51

I'd always assumed Mowgli in the jungle book was so called because it was a sort of animally growly noise IYSWIM!
What a thing to call a child!

TsarChasm · 24/11/2008 10:51

Oh my goodness. Poor kid.

Lockets: lighten up, I don't mean it lieterally...

I just wonder why you'd give your child the name of a questionable district of New York and a disney character that is a bit of a laugh and impish.

I don't agree that a name is just a name. Kids can be quite honest and cruel. I'm sure the boy will grow up embarassed. If a name is just a name, why does MN have a section where people agonize and ponder new names for their babies. We could well go back to Roman times and give them numbers

RachieB · 24/11/2008 13:27

awful!

LouMacca · 24/11/2008 13:29

Its pathetic and embarrassing. Its all about the attention with these 'celebs'.

There are so many lovely names to choose from, why would you do this to your child?

beanieb · 24/11/2008 13:47

Certainly isn't child abuse. I think we all know what that is!

dsrplus8 · 24/11/2008 13:56

anyone waiting on a celeb getting their child "sponcered" and calling it a brand name like coke or mars???lol, hey theyve done the odd names, done the magazine first photos and some have even threatened to give birth on tv(dont know if any celeb has actually done it though???)

I like Mowgli better than Bronx.

TheNewsMongrel · 24/11/2008 15:51

Isn't funny how only edgy/rough areas are names?

Brooklyn or Camden are two that came from England. Although if Gwen Stefani's Kingston catches on, I wouldn't say that was rough or edgy!

What about Ken short for Kennsington or Marlowe? or Lemington?

skidaddle · 24/11/2008 16:09

My DH wanted to call DS Mowgli - obviously I did not ENTERTAIN the idea for a SECOND. Awful

Alexa808 · 24/11/2008 16:47

Lockets: I didn't only lighten up, I sort of PMSL

Nah, I know what you mean, I agree, I'm not tutting, I just cannot comprehend why such a nice and down to earth couple needs to try so hard to find a cool name for their baby.

Call me old fashioned. Sigh...
