Names that are destined to become very popular

I am racking my brains for a name for DD3. So far I have had Claudia, Camille, Esme, Francesca and Louisa.

We cannot make our minds up totally and out of the above names I think Claudia, Esme and Louisa are going to become popular over the next few years and want to avoid anything that will become the next "Grace" - DD1 is Grace and I love it but sick to the back teeth of hearing it every 5 minutes.

Anyone have any names which are destined to become the next Top 5 for the 2010's thus I should avoid!

violet

compo · 16/11/2008 19:26

Esme is already very popular
not sure why you think the others will become more used?

artichokes · 16/11/2008 19:26

Esme is definitly taking over. There are Esmes everywhere. Same with Isla. And Scarlett.

notnowbernard · 16/11/2008 19:27

Isobel/Isabella

notnowbernard · 16/11/2008 19:27

Loads of Tillys round our way

jkklpu · 16/11/2008 19:27

Ruby, if it's not there already

Ruby

Iris

Violet

but I think Emily and Grace are still going to be popular.

What about Claire? Anna?

compo · 16/11/2008 19:28

the names destined to become popular are whatever Will and kate call their kids

mumof2andabit · 16/11/2008 19:29

I loved the names, Marley and Macey for a little girl but dh vetoed them both. I think the trick is to pick a name that can have lots of nn to differenciate (sp0. Dd is cara and I have yet to meet another....

pgwithnumber3 · 16/11/2008 19:29

I don't know any Esmes. I agree Isla and Scarlett are getting more popular but Violet?

compo - very true - I remember when Prince Charles and Diana called their DS's William and Henry (Harry), they were barely used at that time. Now every other boy is William or Harry!

Emse is already popular, and I know of a couple of Camilles.
Evie/ Eva / Ava also popular.

I don't know of any Francescas or Louisas though.

frazzledoldbag34 · 16/11/2008 19:41

I too am considering Claudia but have demoted it to no2 on my list as am concerned about its increasing popularity. Don't know if this helps but my other choices include Annabel - currently my hot favorite (or Annabella) which I don't think is particularly popular (or not in Scotland where I am anyway)
Mabel (but it's a bit 'old lady' so may increase in popularity as have the Edith, Edie type names at the mo)
Christabel
Topaz (ok, so definitely not popular and everyone hates it but me)
Camilla (I doubt this will get popular - but I like it anyway)
Portia (ditto Camilla comment)
Lydia ( I like this but apparently it's quite popular now?)
Allegra (again, ditto the Camilla comment).

You're so lucky having 3 girls. I am also pg with no3 but we don't know what it is yet (my first 2 are girls.......) and are betting on another girl.
Good luck
(by the way, I agree with the above comments re; the very pretty names Ava, Eve, Evie, Esme - I think they are gorgeous BUT know of an Eve and and an Evie both born last week and I also know about 4 Avas!
Ruby is also to be avoided for that reason (about 3 in DD's class of 12 at nursery).
Sorry, rambling now. Good luck and look forward to hearing what you choose in the end!

Ooh not Claire there a billions of --us- them.

frazzledoldbag34 · 16/11/2008 20:00

I like Claire. I don't know any under 30.
(acutally, I just realised that's a lie, I do know one baby about 3 months old called Claire).
But when I was told her name I thought, 'gosh how unusual. And nice'.

abraid · 16/11/2008 20:09

Eloise is becoming popular, which is a shame because it was rare when we called our daughter it.

frazzledoldbag34 · 16/11/2008 20:11

lockets - we also have a kitty. I don't know ANY others. Anywhere. At all. Which I like!

shootfromthehip · 16/11/2008 20:17

Oh Kitty is nice. I don't know any eloises and I think it is a lovely name.

Harriets, Avas and Ellas are rife up here.

shootfromthehip · 16/11/2008 20:18

I LOVE Camille

artichokes · 16/11/2008 20:26

Is Camille pronounced cam-eel?

Hulababy · 16/11/2008 22:05

Yes Camille is pronounced Cam-ee-l. My friend is clled Camille

NotanOtterOHappyDay · 16/11/2008 22:07

Louisa is lovely
Camille likewise

Scifinerd · 16/11/2008 22:12

can't move without bumping into an Olivia or Ella. I have always tried to choose an unusual name and concluded not possible to do.

Nancy66 · 16/11/2008 22:17

I've heard a lot of the following recently:

Scarlett
Eve/Evie
Ava
Martha
Lola

I can't see Claudia becoming the new Jessica somehow, I'd have thought that was a safe bet - Violet is also still way down on the popularity list.
