I am so impressed by the proper feedback Daisybuchanan is getting on her boy's name thread that I am copying her.

So I don't want to know whether you like these names, just what kind of person you imagine each to be.

Olive Reece

Nina Reece

Sophia Reece

Dorothea Reece

Hester Reece

Catherine Reece

Alexandra Reece

they all sound nicely middle class, don't worry

shamlessripoffmerchant · 14/11/2008 09:58

I am asking for personality associations, not class.

Something like this

BabyBay123 - would grow up with little sense of humour and a tendancy to take everything too seriously.

They are all lovely- I would imagine them to be lovely middle class well bought (brought?) up girls. I would think the parents of Nina Reece were a bit silly though as it sounds too much like one long name 'ninareece'. IYKWIM.

mrsgboring · 14/11/2008 10:13

Olive Reece - older lady with stress incontinence (the incontinence bit is an On the Buses association)

Nina Reece - Child of Russian emigres (or people who wish they were)

Sophia Reece - parents very keen for her to succeed at school

Dorothea Reece - quietly succeeds at school. Short in stature but feisty.

Hester Reece - married to a Senior Partner in an accountancy firm.

Catherine Reece - Head girl, loved by everyone. Goes to Oxbridge.

Alexandra Reece - Insists on being called Alex, as her full name doesn't got with her surname. Funny and fairly normal.

mrsgboring · 14/11/2008 10:15

Sorry, mine are rather cruel. They are lovely names, though the ones ending in "a" run into the surname a bit (imagine child saying own name in nervous voice in front of lots of people)

snowleopard · 14/11/2008 10:18

Olive Reece - like her, she's a bit funky and rebellious

Nina Reece - quiet and studious

Sophia Reece - teacher's pet

Dorothea Reece - film star

Hester Reece - earnest and a bit dull, sorry Hesters

Catherine Reece - extremely normal, but Katy Reece would be cooler

Alexandra Reece - popular/leader of the gang

BabyBaby123 · 14/11/2008 10:32

you can't tell anything about a child's personality from a name! You name a baby - a baby develops a personality...

snowleopard · 14/11/2008 10:44

Oh c'mooooon babybaby123 - we react to people's names before we meet them (teachers definitely do, I've heard many admit to it though of course they officially shouldn't)

I would be FAR more excited about going to meet someone called Dr Thelonius Boogaloo-Watkins than someone called Gary Watkins; he just sounds more interesting. Entirely unfair I'm sure but if someone's name makes them sound a certain way people are more likely to treat them that way and so it has an effect. Nothing wrong with considering that in your baby-naming!

BabyBaby123 · 14/11/2008 10:47

but isn't that more about class and sterotypes of the kind of family you think that person was born into it? it doesn't actually tell you anything about the personality. That's just my opinion. When people start these kinds of threads that generally want reassurance that their chosen names are going to 'fit in' more than what kind of personality people think their child will have imo

Annthecat · 14/11/2008 10:59

It's just a game babybaby123.

You can deconstruct Shamelessripoffmerchants's motives, if you like, but seems a bit po faced when she wanted lighthearted banter.

Olive Reece- painfully shy and awkward but with insightfullness about others.

Nina Reece-Musical and gregarious but with tendency to great swings in mood.

Sophia Reece-Prim and suppressed and full of anxiety about what others think of her but with a wld side which occasionally shows.

Dorothea Reece- Hmm don't know.

Hester Reece-Plain but exceptionally intelligent, poeple are slighly in awe of her.

Catherine Reece-An average sort of girl who does well but not excetionaly so in all areas, until some point later in life when her extraordinariness suprises eceryone.

Alexandra Reece- socially confident, a leader of the gang, an organiser and motivater but disinterested in academic side.

PeppermintPatty · 14/11/2008 19:31

Olive Reece- dour. Weard glasses.

Nina Reece- sporty, friendly, has freckles

Sophia Reece- posh drama student

Dorothea Reece- quiet, clever, a bit unnoticaeable

Hester Reece- very chatty, wears loud clothes, a bit scatty

Catherine Reece- average in every way, looks a bit prim

Alexandra Reece- clever, pretty but knows it. Bitchy behind your back.

nickytwotimes · 14/11/2008 19:39

Olive Reece - A bit geeky, but sweet. Possibly on teh hockey team.

Nina Reece - Sounds like her last name is missing, iyswim?

Sophia Reece - Nice, sensible young lady

Dorothea Reece - writer of historical romances

Hester Reece - discovered penicillin shortly before Fleming. (It was Fleming, wasn't it?)

Catherine Reece - slightly swotty, into the Romantic poets and artists in a big way, goes to Durham or St Andrews to study english lit (Oh God, that was me)

Alexandra Reece - A GP in a small rural practice somewhere nice.

TheNewsMonger · 14/11/2008 20:01

Nina would be very popular. People might underestimate her, think she was too nice to be a threat, but then she'd overtake them.

Alexandra, used to play hockey, was a prefect. Peaked at school. Can't quite cope in the real world where life is a level playing field. Feels it's not fair.

olivia. Miss average. Nobody could say anything bad about her really. She's a bilingual secretary and her husband has his own small business.

Dorothea. I have taken a dislike to her already. But I like Thea. Thea would be quirky, fun, a bit lazy, but Daddy has pots of money so it'll all work out very well.

hester, her parents are passionate about the environment. she was brought to school on a massive trike, number plate says "1 car fewer". hester is ashamed to admit it, but she does eat meat now when she is with her own friends. In fact, sometimes, she even uses shop bought loo roll.

catherine. a slightly posher olivia, she's been all round the World you know. She's going to work for morgan stanley, but first she's going to travel a bit. she looks like a model. she looks like an angel. she took e at 14 and lost her virginity at 14 and a half.

baby Sophia lives in kingston and has a twin sister isabella. they were miracle babies. ivf. their parents are 44.

surprise · 15/11/2008 23:43

Olive Reece - librarian

Nina Reece - funky, maybe in a band

Sophia Reece - just doesn't work

Dorothea Reece - very cultured (Middlemarch?)

Hester Reece - boho

Catherine Reece - a bit dull

Alexandra Reece - ordinary

stepfordknife · 15/11/2008 23:44

I definitely think that Hester Reece is a novelist

SneakerPimp · 15/11/2008 23:49

is reece her surname?

VerifiedLU4097 · 17/11/2008 14:28

Olive Reece- She'll just get called Grease- honestly putting olive and Reece together?!

Nina Reece- S'ok runs off the tongue well, I see a TV executive.

Sophia Reece- Does not roll off the tongue.

Dorothea Reece- old lady, specialising in cleaning.

Hester Reece- Nosey next door neighbour

Catherine Reece- professional, yet pretty.

Alexandra Reece- as above.

meandmyjoe · 17/11/2008 15:43

Olive Reece- Miserable old wrinkley

Nina Reece- Very pretty, auburn hair, tall, slim and friendly.

Sophia Reece- posh, snooty, thinkns she's better than everyone but she PROBABLY is better than everyone so will be forgiven.

Dorothea Reece- wears glasses, has asthmaand allergies, enjoys science and reading romance novels.

Hester Reece- middle aged woman who looks like a man, lives with a pet cat but doesn't speak to anyone.

Catherine Reece- Popular, smiley, fun yet mature.

Alexandra Reece- a little big headed, will have a good job but won't be liked.

There, think that about covers it!

lunamoon2 · 18/11/2008 23:08

Olive Reece- Quiet, shy spectacle wearing librarian.
