Is it me that's wrong about this name or my DH?

A friend of mine has just given birth to a gorgeous girl and called her Eva. Here were the reactions in my household:

MTH: Ahhhh...what a gorgeous name!
TH(French accent, naturellement): Eeet serks! (trans: It sucks!)

Thankfully he waited until said friend was off the phone before sharing that little insult.

What do you think of the name?

NorbertDentressangle · 11/11/2008 20:55

I really like it.

shootfromthehip · 11/11/2008 20:56

very bonny.

my husband who is also french vetoed Eva for our dd when it was top of my list. He did however suggest jeffrey and arthur as potential boys names. Think french men just have no taste

babyOcho · 11/11/2008 21:02

I love the name

preggersplayspop · 11/11/2008 21:03

Lovely name.

Jeffrey Arthur? Sounds like a highly non-intellectual writer with dubious moral convictions.... What do these Frenchies know?!

I quite like Jeffrey...I think its due a revival!

TheNewsMonger · 11/11/2008 21:40

I like it! why does it mean some thing in French? It seems like one of those names that nobody could really dislike. JMO.

I like Jeffrey too. TBH I think it's quite like Finley. I can see somebody out there with a finley looking for a good brother name and coming up with Jeffrey, and once one person has done it, it'll spread, a bit, slowly.

RachieB · 11/11/2008 21:41

Love it

castille · 11/11/2008 21:43

My DH is French and Eva was his favourite girls' name when I was pg with no3

LuLuBai · 12/11/2008 11:11

Nothing wrong with Arthur. We've got Albert on the list! Eva is OK, but doesn't do much for me.

frazzledoldbag34 · 12/11/2008 14:10

What is it with all these Eva, Eve, Evie, Ava babies being born at the mo? Such pretty names (IMO) but I know of LOADS born in the last 2 yrs. In fact another 2 last week!
Weird.

BoccaDellaVerita · 12/11/2008 14:13

It's a pretty name but, yes, ubiquitous. I'm getting a bit bored of it.

Anna8888 · 12/11/2008 14:13

Eva is quite boring. There are zillions in Paris.
