Storm!

NogginOfRum · 10/11/2008 15:18

I've recently come across two children called Storm.

Now i was having a laugh about this to my mum; 'Can you believe there are two girls called Storm around, laugh, laugh, what were they thinking, etc, etc' and her reply was 'GIRLS???'

Now to me, Storm sounds a girly name (though i know prehaps not strictly a name!!) but she thinks it's more for a boy.

What do you all think? Girl or boy?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

MrsMattie · 10/11/2008 15:20

Girl. Sounds like a cat/dog name, though.

MaryAnnSingleton · 10/11/2008 15:20

but I also knew a lady whose white Alsatian was called Storm too

NogginOfRum · 10/11/2008 15:22

I don't instantly dislike it, can think of worse names, but doesn't sounds like a childs name.

I think animal or gladiator!

It sounds masculine to me.... Stormina would sound more feminine

Waltzywotzy · 10/11/2008 15:23

I know a dog called Storm, brothers are
Thunder
Lightening

could set a trend I suppose for humans........

Twims · 10/11/2008 15:26

Girl - Can imagine a small scowling little girl with masses of dark curly hair

NotBigNotClever · 10/11/2008 15:27

Have a relation called Storm. Apparently she has a temperament to match her name. Then again there is a male pedigree airedale who lives down the road who is also called Storm. There was a well-known (female) author called Storm Jameson.

CharleeInChains · 10/11/2008 15:29

I knew a little boy called Storm.

DizzyBrummie · 10/11/2008 15:34

It's a bit X-men

sweetkitty · 10/11/2008 15:37

Once knew a Rottweiler called Storm kind of puts me off.

Although would be a fab name for DD2, she's a storm in a 2 year old body

PuppyMonkey · 10/11/2008 15:44

Gah! - for a boy or a girl. I mean, you wouldn't call your kid RainyandMiserable... which is what a storm basically is....

HeadFairy · 10/11/2008 15:47

Girls name, but a very naughty girl The kind that is an "exotic dancer" p'raps? Or just wild and decadent. Either way she'll break her mother's heart

katylou25 · 10/11/2008 16:09

I used to look after a vienna storm - destined to be a star me thinks

singersgirl · 10/11/2008 16:12

I think it sounds more like a name for a boy. And I agree with PuppyMonkey. What a strange thing to name your child after - out of control, windy, raining, causes lots of damage...

Pinkchampagne · 10/11/2008 16:12

I knew a boy called Storm

branflake81 · 10/11/2008 16:35

DP has a male friend called Storm.

LurkerOfTheUniverse · 10/11/2008 16:53

agree with puppymonkey, it's not good

dinkymum · 10/11/2008 16:56

I would say girl, my dad wanted to call me Storm when I was born, as I was born during a freak snow storm, and with my surname I would've sounded like a natural disaster, pleased to say my mum vitoed it! He tried Gail too.. lol not sure what happened to snowy! lol

louisejohnson87 · 10/11/2008 17:01

If you think this is a "bad" name, I know a set of brothers called

Axel and Dragon!!!!!

Now come on, they are BAD names!!!

rolledhedgehog · 10/11/2008 17:26

Dog or horse - male or female.

annasmami · 10/11/2008 17:42

Whats wrong with Axel?

HeadFairy · 10/11/2008 17:44

@ Axel and Dragon, future hellraisers for sure!

catweazle · 10/11/2008 17:47

It's my DD's middle name... but feel free to take the piss..

FWIW DH and the PIL wanted it to be her first name.
