a-lease-e-a

edam · 06/10/2008 20:57

llaregubb (I really had to think about typing that), I did the same with Malory Towers. Was grown up before I realised it wasn't A licky a.

seeker · 06/10/2008 20:59

Al-lissia, or possibly Al-leesia. But NEVER Aleesha!

seeker · 06/10/2008 20:59

Aleesha isn't a name at all!

Al-lee-thia?

Plonker · 06/10/2008 23:31

Alicia = Alice-ia

Aleesha would be spelled Alysha IMO and IME

LynetteScavo · 07/10/2008 21:11

So how do you all say Acacia?

MeMySonAndI · 07/10/2008 21:12

My mother is A li cia

FranSanDisco · 07/10/2008 21:17

I was certain I would pronounce Alicia as Alis i a but then I thought I pronounce Tricia as Trish a. Very confuing

ravenAK · 07/10/2008 21:17

Dd1 is Alicia, pronounced A-liss-iya.

I also teach Alicias pronounced Aleesha & Aleesia, MT - not to mention an Ellicia. Dd1 tends not to get it mispronounced, but we've had some interesting spelling variations! [grin}

& dd2 is Mathilda, so clearly we are forever doomed to spellcheck hell...

lunamoon2 · 07/10/2008 22:29

Hi

Much prefer Alice i a pronunciation rather than Alee sh a

x

Bathsheba · 09/10/2008 19:37

I'd definaintely pronounce it A-Liss-e-ya

But I know 2 babies called A-leash-sha and I just think its a very harsh pronunciation

ib · 09/10/2008 19:42

Very common name in Spanish, where it's pronounced A leessia

branflake81 · 10/10/2008 12:31

Well my sister is called Alicia so I consider myself an authority. We pronounce it AL-ISS-EE-AH

Bicnod · 10/10/2008 18:07

Alicia's Attic - they pronounce it Aleesha

MrsGuyOfGisbourne · 10/10/2008 18:15

branflake - yes my old (I mean former) boss was called Alicia pronounced a-liss-eeya. And I know an Alisha, pronounces a-leesha, so never considered them connected names...

Tigerschick · 10/10/2008 18:17

I have taught:
an Al-eeth-ia
an Al-eesh-ia
an Al-eesha
and an Al-iss-ia

All spelt Alicia.

Kiwigirl26 · 10/10/2008 23:09

I myself am called Alicia and my name is pronounced Ah-liss-ee-ah, but I've only ever met one other Alicia whose name is spelt and pronounced the same as mine!

Slickbird · 11/10/2008 19:37

I knew an Alicia at school and she was
A-liss-ia. I always thought that how it should be, but I guess you always go with what you know. I know Americans say Aleesha. But then they can't say Graham/Graeme. They say GRAM. And they also can't say Craig. They say CREG. Very weird! (No offence to any Americans online! )

GreatGooglyMoogly · 11/10/2008 19:58

Aleesha, but I'm foreign

How do you pronounce Tricia?

TheOtherMaryPoppins · 11/10/2008 20:00

I would prounounce it Al-is-ee-ah

mamalovesmambo · 11/10/2008 20:35

Alicia = ah-lee-see-ah
Alisha = aaa-lishh-ah so depends on the spelling - but I am South England n thanks to Eastenders baby beeing called Alisha = aaaahleeeeshhhhaaaah.
