Both are nice. I associate Joseph more with religion and Alistair I always think of being scottish, if that effects your decision?

Joseph is hugely popular at the moment, there are dozens of them in our local Infants school. No Alistairs, and only one (who is actually and Alastair) in the Junior school.

So purely because of that, I wouldn't go for Joseph.
