What name do you secretly love but would never use for your child?

For me it's Silas - it reminds me of the adventure programmes I used to watch as a kid. I think one of my first crushes must have been on a character called Silas.

I did suggest it for DS1 (vetoed by DP), but thinking about it I wouldn't want to call my son Silas and I can't really explain why.

Does anybody else have a name that they wouldn't use, but really like nonetheless...?

My friend called her daughter Indigo and calls her Indy for short - which I think is fab! But she's that kind of person - always looking glamourous, a little boho and a free spirit. If we did it, my friends would think we were out of our tree and I just wouldn't have the guts to do it.

Do love it for her though - she's such a little Indy!

xx

Daisy and Grace. I think both names would suit willowy, beautiful women, and there is a HUGE chance that any daughter I have would be a dumpy thing!!!

MissClavel · 06/10/2008 19:41

hatrick - all my 3 are now here too

jenkel · 06/10/2008 19:57

Tallulah and Jared, no way that I would have used Tallulah though, possibly Jared but had 2 girls.

Ineedsomesleep · 06/10/2008 21:29

Minnie, after my very old and much loved Mini.

pushchair · 06/10/2008 21:38

i wanted Audrey after my very first friend at primary and i liked it but Dp said it would remind him of corrie's Audrey.

Fleecy · 06/10/2008 21:39

DS is on here several times (Sebastian).

If I could have anything, he'd have been Icarus and DD would have been Hero. But I'm such a conservative sort I wouldn't dare!

Unity - as in Unity Mitford. Not very PC!!

Spidermama · 06/10/2008 22:20

I LOVE Ariel, but I think the washing powder comments would wear me/her down pretty quickly.

redpyjamas · 06/10/2008 22:36

I have a nephew called Amadeus. He is also great musically. He really suits his name.

hatwoman · 06/10/2008 22:36

Dorothy and Sally. dh and I liked them both but they are the names of my father's second wife (who was at the heart of my parent's divorce) and her daughter. so both were complete non-starters.

tandsmummy · 06/10/2008 23:02

Laurence- we had similar reaction as StayFrosty. Really love the name.

Hermione and Beatrice for girls
