Any opinions? The only Leni's I know of are Leni Riefenstahl and Heidi Klum's daughter. I think it might sound a bit old fashioned to German ears but I find it very pretty.

i know a Leni (I live in Germany)...think it is pretty

MadreInglese · 03/10/2008 11:57

is that pronounced 'lenny' or 'laynee'?

Megglevache · 03/10/2008 11:58

I think it's lovely but that older scouse comdedian with the bubble perm who used to host that cheesy quiz with the celebrities sat in squares comes to mind

It sounds so pretty though.

I'm German and find it very pretty - sounds like a short form of Magdalena or Helena to me.

milene · 03/10/2008 12:17

MadreInglese - more like laynee than lenny

annasmami - yes, I think it's basically a pet name for Helene/Helena. It's also quite similar to the Greek Eleni which I also love.

Megglevache - who's that?

to be fair I was about four when he was on the telly and had a massive crush on him

MadreInglese · 03/10/2008 12:23

I think it's lovely

It's nice but sounds like an abbreviation. Leni Riefenstahl's real name was Helene.

platypussy · 03/10/2008 14:57

Looks a bit 'unfinished'.

zebedee1 · 03/10/2008 21:03

I thinkl it's lovely. Unusual but not made up or silly!

milene · 04/10/2008 21:10

branflake - it is an abbreviation, but I don't think there's much point naming her Helene or Elena etc if she will always be known as Leni.
