No thanks. I don't understand this fascination with names that shorten to Clem - it just makes me think 'eww, clammy'.

As ever though, your kid your choice.

sammybeth · 24/09/2008 15:57

Sorry i agree its not a great name, bit girly for my liking

kittywise · 24/09/2008 15:57

No, sorry

sammybeth · 24/09/2008 15:57

But at the end of the day its your baby so if you like it thats all that matters

WeeBesom · 24/09/2008 15:59

Not keen on it sorry

nooka · 24/09/2008 16:02

Makes me think of Clement Atlee. Not perhaps the best of associations. It's my brother's middle name, and he isn't fond of it, but there's nothing particularly wrong with it.

boolean · 24/09/2008 21:00

Clement Atlee was cool!

Clement Freud as well.

Although I believe that 'clem' is used as a derogatory playground term for stupid, so worth bearing in mind...

LaDiDaDi · 24/09/2008 21:03

I don't like Clement at all.

thisisyesterday · 24/09/2008 21:05

ooooh I like!

(scribbles it down in case db3 ever gets conceived)

vicsta · 24/09/2008 21:10

Not for me I'm afraid x

MuffinMclay · 24/09/2008 21:15

I love it, but couldn't bring myself to give it to a child, if that makes any sense.

I wanted to name ds2 Clement (after Clement Freud), but dh vetoed.

Think they'd get picked on at school with a name like that.

I may well call a dog Clement somewhere down the line.

LynetteScavo · 24/09/2008 21:16

Edward Clement.

TMItoday · 27/09/2008 01:21

Edward is great.

seeker · 27/09/2008 01:25

I really don't think it's a good idea to choose a name that absolutely nobody else has -and I tthing Clement's one of those. It's not ready for a revival yet - maybe for your next one!

Pesha · 27/09/2008 01:26

Yes I like Edward.

Clement, not so much.

Tortington · 27/09/2008 01:26

its god awful

clareygill · 20/10/2008 12:03

ds2 arrived 11 days early at home in the bath with no pain relief WHAT SO EVER (I'm going to procure a cape & start wearing my pants on the outside of my clothes) & is now called Arthur Edward. Suits him just fine.
