I think of Mapp and Lucia too. Pretty name though.

V.popular around here due to large Italian community. I like it too. Pronounced "Loocheea" when I've encountered it.

noonki · 21/09/2008 12:35

frazzledoldbag34 · 21/09/2008 19:54

Are you italian? I would probably assume you were if I heard that name (loo-chee-a)
Had never thought about pronouncing it Loosha.
Hmmmmmmm not sure to be honest.
Suspect it may be confusing.
But on the positive side it does make me think of someone very beautiful - which is always good!

noddyholder · 21/09/2008 19:55

1920s flapper

MrsMattie · 21/09/2008 19:55

Loo-chee-a. I'd think Italian.

Loo-sha sounds ridiculously made up. Loo-see-a does a bit, too.

avaj · 21/09/2008 20:44

Makes me think of the Mapp and Lucia books, which are brilliant!
I consider it quite posh, but I do like it - cute and girlie.

silenceischocolate · 22/09/2008 23:43

Pretty Italian name

have italian family and it is

Lu-Chi - a

or Chee

They shorten it to Chi-Chi as pet name but a soft chi of tahe makes sense....

My name is Italian and I have had a life of mispronounciations......mainly school teacher and call center callers.....!!!!!!

giraffescantdancethetango · 22/09/2008 23:45

frumpygrumpy · 22/09/2008 23:49

Oh it reminds me of an old polish lady........friends with my MIL. She was adorable but a little loopy. MIL befriended her and then bad mouthed her after her death because she hadn't been let anything in her will. Because of course, thats why you befriend someone Sorry.....you asked what it said to me.....

frumpygrumpy · 22/09/2008 23:50

branflake81 · 23/09/2008 12:36
