Verity and Philipa are my favourites

PuppyMonkey · 19/09/2008 11:33

My sis was going to call her dd Phillipa - that's what she registered on the birth certificate. But her other kids kept calling the baby Flipper... so she changed to Emily.

TwoMore · 19/09/2008 17:12

Kitty - Love, but feel it needs a longer name like Katherine or something/
Martha - Nice. I like this name.
Verity - Its okay. I did like it, but not so much any more.
Lyra - No. Sorry, not keen on this one.
Helena - yes. Love this name.
Molly - Its okay
Eliza - prefer Elizabeth
Celeste - No, sorry
Pippa - yes - I quite like Philippa, shortened to Pippa.
Rita - no. Sorry.
Ellen - Its okay

GetOrfMoiLand · 19/09/2008 17:52

Kitty - hmm so-so
Martha - lovely name
Verity - a bit prim schoolgirl.
Lyra - No, not really, will date
Helena - Yes, like this very much
Molly - no, common (as in too popular)
Eliza - prefer Elizabeth
Celeste - reminds me of deserted ships.
Pippa - No
Rita - I love this name
Ellen - no, Helen or Helena definitely preferable

So, Martha, Helena or Rita would be my preferences

MrsMattie · 19/09/2008 17:57

Eliza is gorgeous. By far the loveliest name on your list.

Rita and Pippa are awful.

Celeste - poncearama.

the rest - OK.

PeppermintPatty · 19/09/2008 18:00

I like them all except Celeste and Rita

belgo · 19/09/2008 18:01

I like them all except Lyra, too similar to lycra.

frazzledoldbag34 · 19/09/2008 18:03

janeite · 19/09/2008 19:56

I really, really don't like Rita I'm afraid.

These are the ones I like from your list:

Martha
Verity
Lyra
Helena

noddyholder · 19/09/2008 19:56

kitty celeste and rita esp rita actually sweet for a little girl and glamorous when older

Megglevache · 19/09/2008 19:58

It's a brilliant list IMO.

I love all of them apart from Molly

It's not that I don't like Molly, it's just the others are more unusual.

MadamAnt · 19/09/2008 19:58

Rita and Verity are both top of my list for threoretical DD2! I'm amazed to see anyone else suggest them (esp Rita). I also love Martha and Kitty. All of the others are nice but Molly is a bit over used IMO.

Wilkiepedia · 19/09/2008 20:27

I think Helena is pretty but not overkeen on others

dinkymum · 19/09/2008 21:51

Kitty - Love it. There's a lovely Seth Lakeman song - Kitty Jay- if you like mad violin playing (It's on my list too)
Martha - lovely , down to Earth name (also on my list)
Verity - Not keen. We had one at school. People called her Ferret.
Lyra - Really like this and Guess what...It's also on my list, but niece called Lila so could get confusing.
Helena - not doing anything for me- neutral
Molly - like but too popular round here
Eliza - lovely lovey lovely! (This is in my top 3!!!)
Celeste -I think I took a contraceptive pill once with this name so no.
Pippa - Used to fantasise about having a D called Pippa Chi. Knew a lovely Pippa (Pip)Like it alot
Rita - Dinner Lady / Rite Skeeta / Ritz biscuits all spring to mind so No.
Ellen - Think about that American sit com - neutral
