Baby names

Find baby name inspiration and advice on the Mumsnet Baby Names forum.

I'm fed up of suggesting baby names-does anyone actually use any of the suggestions give by Mn'rs or are we all just wasting our time?

I found mumsnet advice helpful. I asked people if they knew more of one name or another to guage which was more popular.

That's fair enough BS.

People go to the bother of listing various names and noone ever seems to say, "yes that's the one".

And before someone bleats "hide the threads", I don't want to, I just want to know if any of the suggestions are ever used.

i think i named the baby of mnetter Chaoskay. i don't know her but she posted about nature names for boys and finally went with my suggestion.

Fimbo · 16/09/2008 13:34

hope i'm the only one, that would be pretty special. i could have my own topic called dragonbutters baby naming clinic.
ok, getting above my station but it is pretty cool especially as the name is also DS2's name.

Fimbo · 16/09/2008 13:39

Well now you have added that little snippet DB you do have to tell us the name.

I think we should just rename the Baby Names topic to DB's guide to naming your child.

Actually, I think the name we finally went with was one from the "what was your grandad called" thread too.

MamaG · 16/09/2008 13:42

Yes I want to know the name.

I did name change looking for suggestions of names of certain type, then never got around to name changing to say thanks to people - how rude of me - have ended up settling on the name I first liked anyway hehe

Just how many weeks have we got to wait then before we hear your chosen name, MamaG?

OP posts:
Dragonbutter · 16/09/2008 13:45

the name was Sol

Fimbo · 16/09/2008 13:47

I like Sol

Am due 6 weeks on Thursday - so expect to give birth in 8 weeks and will probably drag my ass to a computer about a fortnight after that

But don't get excited, I'm terribly, boringly traditional with names [prim]

zazen · 16/09/2008 13:57

Yes, I love the name Sol and Solange for sunangel is way fabby also!

But really why the hot and bothers, Fimbo

Surely name threads are all about dreams, not really about results?

After all, advice is free and worth every penny

I love thinking about baby names, as I'll never have another. For me the dream naming of my babe was the nicest thing about being preggo, that and imagining how she looked, and how she'd be.

It helped me articulate and analyse my expectations and dreams for her and we developed a strong connection because of this 'up in the air', when nothing is decided, dream-time.

bring on the name threads!

Dragonbutter · 16/09/2008 14:09

I don't think we'll have any more but sometimes i do think of names and get broody for just a second.
my latest favourite name is Nelson.

My Sol suits his name so well. He's just a sunny happy boy.
