I am looking for a name to go with my sons name, Oliver.

Names I'm liking are

Poppy
Elsie
Ivy
Annabella

Henry
Sebastian (not sure if this flows well with Oliver?).

I am not too sure about the girls names, they aren't very strong sounding so ideas appreciated.

I love the boys names but am not too sure about the girls names either. What about Isabel or Isabella, Rose or Lily as some similar names that might work better with Oliver.

anything but Nancy

I think out of those Elsie sounds nicest with Oliver. Cant really comment on the boys names as I have 2 ladies who come into where I work whose surnames are Oliver and Henry, so I am a bit biased as I hear it every week.

Poppy - Love this, but would use Penelope on the birth cert!

Elsie - love this, but, maybe short for Elizabeth.
Ivy - quite like this as a middle name. Not in love with it.
Annabella - prefer just Annabel. Annabel could be Nancy for short which is v. cool. Love that. Just wondering if you were considering Nancy at one point!? It's not in your OP. Annabel wiht Nancy for short would be fabulous though.

Henry - I like this. Matches Oliver
Sebastian - hmmmm. Oliver and Sebastian together osunds a little too.... oooh, what is the word?

I have an Oliver and Toby which I like (obviously!) out of the 2 boys names Henry is lovely, its on my list if we have 3rd boy!

Like all the girls names, our Oliver is becoming an Ollie as he gets older if thats the same for you then I'd avoid names that don't sound right with that... all the girls names sound lovely with Oliver btw - choose something you love

I am loving your replies! Thank you.

insywinsyspider : that is such a good point about Ollie! It never crossed my mind! It's a good idea then I stay clear of the name Mollie/Molly! A name I quite liked at one point! lol.

I really liked Florence, but our surname is Lawrence, so we can't have it. :-(

Can't have Lily we have two in the family already!

I never considered Penelope/Poppy. (I really like it) Mainly because I thought the shortened version was Penny.

Anya

works here anyway

weirdly, if he hadn't been oliver, he would've been sebastian (dh's fave) or toby, so i guess we're none of us as unique as we thought, eh?

mine is still oliver at nearly 7 tho...

Imnotok · 12/09/2008 14:29

Poppy is good with Oliver (I have a poppy too and she is very strong willed .
