Hi all,
I am due to have a section on thursday and am having difficulties deciding on the spelling of our chosen name for the baby. We like the name Annabel(le). middle name will probably be Elizabeth. Any advice??

Annabel

Our dd is Annabel, so we (me German/dh English) preferred that spelling. But do go with your own preferences - Annabelle has a more latin/French feel to it. And be prepared for different spellings - we've had everything from Anabel to Annabell. Still love the name though!

Annabel. Annabelle looks too frilly.

MaryAnnSingleton · 09/09/2008 09:48

Annabel - very pretty btw

mumthatworks · 09/09/2008 10:52

Annabel...so pretty! xx

ninedragons · 09/09/2008 11:02

Annabel.

Annabelle looks like two names squashed together.

Annabel is lovely. Good luck for Thursday!

micku5 · 09/09/2008 11:06

I am going to say Annabelle because it's my name and i love the spelling of it. Think the other version looks like it has letters missing.

Notquitegrownup · 09/09/2008 11:10

Annabel is lovely, but be prepared for other little girls to sing the 'Baby Annabel' theme tune to her lots - a very popular toy with lots of toddlers at the moment.

Either is nice. Perhaps think what you would want her to shorten it to - Bella? Anna? Belle (main princess type character in Beauty and the Beast)

3andnomore · 09/09/2008 13:17

as mn is Elisabeth, I would spell first name Anabel/Annabel

TheFallenMadonna · 09/09/2008 13:21

Annabel

frazzledoldbag34 · 09/09/2008 13:33

Annabel is nicer.

Or what about Arabella? (sorry to confuse matters!!!)

twosofar · 09/09/2008 16:27

Annabel. Unless you are French.

MrsMattie · 09/09/2008 16:28

Annabel.

Majeika · 09/09/2008 16:29

My boys would have been Annabel.

lovely name and sooooo underused.

Thought she could use Anna when she was older.

I prefer Annabel. Annabelle looks too fussy to me.

Tigerschick · 09/09/2008 16:33

Yet another vote for Annabel.

Good luck for Thursday

Definitely Annabel, and it's a lovely name.

Lady Annabel Goldsmith, Lady Annabel Sainsbury, and Camilla's sister all spell it Annabel. HOw snobby do I sound using that as an argument in favour of Annabel?! But seriously I just prefer it. I think it is a recent Americanism to even consider spelling it Annabelle.

I feel exactly the same about Juliet/Juliette and Vivien/Vivienne.

annieatno4 · 09/09/2008 17:28

Ohh - another vote for Annabel here!
This is my name, and thats the spelling i use.

Although i tend to be Annie nowdays (unless iam in trouble!!)
good luck

MakemineaGandT · 09/09/2008 20:33

Annabel from me too (lovely!) - Annabelle too icky

hw2004 · 09/09/2008 20:57

Annabel....

Love it by the way. I'm having my second boy but if this one had been a girl she would have been Annabel with Bel or Bella for short

TheNaughtiestGirlIsaMonitor · 12/09/2008 12:27

It's Friday, so if you have a baby girl OP, congratulations! Always think it must be lovely to open ones diary and write "have baby" in under a particular date!

Reginaphilangy · 12/09/2008 15:05

Annabel

hopperdee · 12/09/2008 17:11

Annabelle - really pretty and I love the 'belle' part.
