Beautiful name for a girl imo but pronounced Row-en (to rhyme with cow)

Rowan - I love it! It's a beautiful name for a boy or girl. I don't usually like names used for both boys and girls on girls usually, e.g Robin/Robyn. But I love Rowan for a girl.

that;s another reason why i'd quite like it as a middle name for theoretical 3rd child - DH lived in Mountain Ash

it's NOT the same name as Rowena though

My brother went out with a Rowan and a Rowena at school (not at the same time though). They were both girls

Nice names I think!

My middle name is Rowan and I am definitely a girl. I used to be embarassed about it and never mentioned it if I could help it, then I quite liked having an unusual name but by that time Rowan Atkinson had become really well known and every time I mention it now I get, 'Isn't that a boy's name?' - 'Er, obviously not...' I think a lot of boys have a girl's name .

If you don't mind that then I would say I have actually grown to like my name (if not to love). Having said that I have had a lot of comments from people who think it is a lovely name and with more unusual names you are always going to get people who make it obvious they don't like it just because they are expecting to hear one of the more popular names.

I love this name. Anne Rice (author of 'Interview with a vamp' wrote a book about a modern witch (good 1), called Rowan and she was definately a she.
