for a boy or for a girl?

Gorgeous. Would you pronounce it Eh-Lie-as or Eh-lee-as? both lovely imo.

Alias

pointydog · 04/09/2008 18:49

Could call him AKA

I think it's gorgeous and will become quite popular in a few years. Once knew a very kind and wise old man in France with that name. He wasn't phased by anything life threw at him. Always thought it would be a cool name for a DS!

branflake81 · 04/09/2008 19:26

As in Elias Canetti? Bit pompous, imho.

jemimap · 04/09/2008 22:45

I would pronounce eh-lie-us... Thought it was just really classic ... glad generally popular and may well be 'the' name ..

Quite popular here in Germany atm (pron E-lee-as). I like it.

DS1 has a boy in his class caled Elias - he pronounces Ellie-ass (they are Swedish). I think, in my head, I pronounce it e-lie-as.

Lovely

stroppyshopper · 04/09/2008 23:35

I love it. Both the name and nickname. OH and I decided about a year ago that this would be the name of our second son, if we have one.

I hope it doesn't get TOO popular in the meantime!!!

Eli like the scizo kid on hollyoaks that murders everyone???

fortyplus · 04/09/2008 23:43

It's very Biblical, isn't it? How about going for Jehovah instead?
