Jacob and Solomon?

DS1 called Jacob

Would it sound shite if we had another boy and called him Solomon? I love the name but don't want to sound like a religios nut.

This is all hypothetical as not even pg yet...

Jacob is a great name , so is Solomon. You go girl!

Wilkiepedia · 25/08/2008 19:33

Yes but would you laugh at me behind my back??

Both great names.

Hoonette · 25/08/2008 19:34

How would you shorten Solomon? Or wouldn't you?

Spidermama · 25/08/2008 19:34

I'd prefer Sol. Solomon's a great name but it is kind of weighty.

Wilkiepedia · 25/08/2008 19:36

Sol - definitely

Jacob is J or JJ

Then that sounds fine - I like it.

MrsMattie · 25/08/2008 19:38

Sol is a fab shortened version. I considered both names myself for DS.

schneebly · 25/08/2008 19:41

very cool - like Solomon Burke

falcon · 25/08/2008 22:05

I love Solomon and no I wouldn't care to shorten such a wonderful name.

Dragonbutter · 25/08/2008 22:10

I have a Sol.
I like solomon too, but thought it a bit religious for us. So he's just Sol or Solly.

zippitippitoes · 25/08/2008 22:12

both nice names

i like sol too
so go for it

hippipotami · 25/08/2008 22:14

No, I would not laugh behind your back. Both beautiful names.

In fact, the title caught my attention because two lovely little boys in dd's class are called Jacob and Solomon. They are best friends too, so for me the names already 'go' together if that makes sense.

tortoiseshell · 25/08/2008 22:15

Lovely names! And Sol is very cool!

Dragonbutter · 25/08/2008 22:19
Grin
Heated · 25/08/2008 22:25

Given you already have a JJ, you need an appropriately cool nn for ds2, and Sol fits the bill perfectly.

Inkspot · 25/08/2008 22:30

Lovely lovely lovely, both

3andnomore · 26/08/2008 00:02

Hm, Sol is cool, but Solomon...not keen on that one, personally

dibdabscribble · 26/08/2008 16:39

Solomon is quite cool, but now I have Solomon Grundy in my head

suzywong · 26/08/2008 16:43

Slip in Ezekiel Lott as middle names just for good measure and stop wearing buttons and take to driving a trap/

ceeceeanne · 24/12/2008 09:54

solo is a cool nn

mediocrebronze · 24/12/2008 13:36

both on my list. In fact for me Solomon is higher than Jacob
