We have 6 weeks to go and were all set on ALice or Matilda but now dh says he can't see himself with a daughter with eiher of those names, he wants something 'softer'.

He likes Leila, Lola and Daisy. I like these names but feel they are totally differant to what we were considering.
Thoughts on these names please. DO you like any of them? Too twee? Too 'of the moment'? Suggestions for middle names if you do like them please

Matilda could be Tilly

Daisy is nice, so is Alice. Quite timeless.

Leila, Lola are a bit bleurgh.

GruffaloSoldier · 17/08/2008 20:03

I love Matilda and Daisy. Others are fine too!

KristinaM · 17/08/2008 20:10

if it were my Dh and i was 34 weeks pg i woudl be saying stuff like

"no uterus, no opinion"

or

"its not about how you see yourself darling its about choosing a name for an adult that she will have for life"

and " grow up"

you are obviously more patient than me...

Lola is kinda cute. Daisy pretty but not original. Love Matilda!

alittleteapot · 17/08/2008 21:22

I really like Leila - it's pretty and not common.

dizzydixies · 17/08/2008 21:28

agree that Matilda could be Tilly
Alice could be Lissie whilst wee?

Lola ok but think it will date
Leila - prefer Lila or Lyra
Daisy not to my taste sorry!

MrsMattie · 17/08/2008 21:30

All are OK, but I personally am not keen on daisy - too cutesy wootsy. Matilda will be in the Top 5 girls names any day soon, mark my words!

loobylu3 · 17/08/2008 21:35

Have to admit that I prefer Alice and Matilda to the other names. Try to persuade DH to use one of these!!

LongLiveCuckoo · 17/08/2008 21:38

I like Alice, Matilda and Daisy. I agree that they are strong as well as pretty, but that's good right?

Imo, Lola and Leila are a bit too soft. I like Leila mind you, but it hasn't got any strength if that makes sense.

You're naming a daughter, not a wall paper sample. So it shouldn't be too soft imo.

dustyteddy · 17/08/2008 21:40

love leila! I have one so I'm biased, sorry!

lilyloo · 17/08/2008 21:42

Matilda , Lola, Daisy in that order
Can you not have all these names and see what suits her when she is born ?

NotAnOtter · 17/08/2008 21:43

alaice and matilda my favourites

others too cutsie and here and now

clairebear88 · 19/08/2008 14:55

I like all 5 names actually so im no help at all. This is the order i would put them in

Leila
Matilda
Alice
Daisy
Lola

hellebores · 19/08/2008 15:08

Like Alice - all thr others too popular or twee. Ambivalent about Leila - possibly could quite like it - as not too ditsy or trendy - I had a student Leila (now 26) she was posh, clever, beautiful, sporty and popular..
