This name thing is really irritating me, I go through lists on the internet and they just blur into mush.

So if everyone just posts their 5 favorites here I may actually find something I like!

I have found it easier to think of a name when placing it with a middle name, this also helps with a difficult surname. Easier for us as all our middle names are family names so picked in order.
ok my dd is Alannah which means dear child. If ds1 had been a girl he would have been jocelyn and if ds2 had been a girl would have been heather. Now expecting dc4 and thinking of sticking with heather.
However i also like violet, teagan and esther but dp not keen

Izzybel · 26/08/2008 21:49

Isabel(le) / Isabella
Sophia
Emily
Aimee
Annabelle

I also really like Delilah, but if we were to ever have another girl there is no way DP would let me use it. Could you imagine how many people would sing at her "my my my Delilah!" It also reminds me of 'Friends' "oh great! She's a biblical whore!"

We struggled for ages on our daughters name - our sons was so easy and she was going to be Jake or Samuel if a DS.

She was Ruby for 2 weeks but we decided it was to popular. We loved
Drew
Hallie
Neve
Nell
Phoebe
Kizzy
Summer
Tally
Frankie
Dylan
Georgie I like this one with your last name

We decided on Phoebe Mae Summer but then realised it was PMS so went for Phoebe Mae Piper and have now after a year changed her name to Phoebe Nell Piper plus our last name. Its a huge responsiblilty naming a child. Please let us know what you decide on

lojoesmammy · 27/08/2008 00:49

I wanted to call my dd Lois which would of been after her Great Nanna, it was considered really old fashioned 14 years ago, I can not believe how many have put it on their lists.

KleineMaus · 27/08/2008 10:14

Claudia - love it, but odd meaning

all of which have prob been mentioned...

oh, and Imogen... if i canhave six

theaevie · 27/08/2008 11:40

Here are my three suggestions, they are also the names of my three girls

Thea
Evie
Mae

Waspie · 27/08/2008 11:51

My shortlist for baby girls before I had a boy:
Gwyneth
Isolde
Caroline
Elizabeth

As a child I loved the names Grace and Bethany, I still do love them but they are so incredibly popular at the moment that I discounted them.

Basically, I looked at the top 100 names lists for the last five years and discounted all the names which were on the up through this period or were in the top twenty five as too popular and dating. I also didn't want dc to be one of 5 Millie's or Isy's or Josh's in their class at school because I'm too lazy to write dc's family name on everything plus I guess I just like classic names.

MelissaM · 27/08/2008 11:51

Lily
Molly
Evelyn (Ev, Eve, Evie)
Grace
Caitlin (pronouced Catchleen if being authentic)
Niamh/Neve
Orla
Maewin (pronounced Mywin I think)
Milly

Oops - more than 5.

hi teaching in an all girls secondary school for the past 10 years I found myself drawn to names that i had not heard very often (although this changes over the years), slightly less used but not too wacky!!! 3 girls called Ruby in my sons primary class at the moment:

Matilda / Mattie / Tilly
Betsy
Florence
Primrose
Maisie

Good luck!!! Its boys names that are the killer!!!

WentworthMillerMad · 27/08/2008 12:56
