I like them all prob least like lukas and roxie...
There are quite a fewolivias around but it is a lovely name
Also harry v common although I still likeit!

puffling · 17/08/2008 00:51

April?
Charlie
Most of your choices are currently very popular, not that that's necessarily a problem.

S1ur · 17/08/2008 00:53

This is such a personal choice, are you sure you want honesty????

Because, tbh if it were me I would choose something entirely different.

SO instead I'll try to be constructive.

I think Ava and Oliva are lovely classic names.
Roxanne is slightly more bold and good for a variety of abbrieviations.
April feels a bit american for me personally.

Boys:
They are all reasonable, I personally like Charlie and Harry but mainly because I have very close relatives and friends with those names
Noah is more distinctive but a wee bit biblical for me.
I am less keen on Hayden and Lucas but again that would be a personal opinion

bubbles4 · 17/08/2008 00:56

Harry as I have got a Harry and Ava because its nice and one that I might have chosen.

NoBiggy · 17/08/2008 00:57

There was a website which amongst other things had offensive nicknames that your child may get called at school. One that I remember well was "Lucas Mucus".

But then I think kids can make offensive nicknames from just about anything.

MrsMattie · 17/08/2008 07:26

I have a secret love of the name Roxanne . Olivia is also lovely. Not keen on any of your boy's names, sorry.

CantSleepWontSleep · 17/08/2008 08:53

I really like Roxanne (though having a Roxy in Eastenders is somewhat unfortunate).

Not inspired by any of the boys' names, but like Lucas best.

FeelinBroody · 17/08/2008 09:39

Roxanne (Roxie) - I love this, for me it is Roxie Hart (Chicago) not Roxie Mitchell. Others may make the Eastenders connection though, so it's whether that bothers you or not

Ava - every other baby girl is called Ava at the moment. Quite pretty but not for me due to that reason.

Olivia - not a huge fan but it's not horrible.

April - Really like this, think it's really pretty.

Hayden - Sorry, but I hate it!

Lucas - Again, not a fan.

Charlie - Like this, should be Charles officially though.

Harry - Really like this, should be Henry officially though.

Noah - Not sure. I think it's nice sounding, but only 'ok' if you are Christian - otherwise a bit weird naming after such a prominent Biblical character? If that is your cultural background then it'd be fine.

So, I would choose Roxanne (Roxie) or April, or Charles (Charlie) or Henry (Harry).

LynetteScavo · 17/08/2008 10:07

Ava or Lucas

collision · 17/08/2008 10:09

DH says Roxanne and Noah.

My choice would have been Ava and Harry.

shootfromthehip · 17/08/2008 10:36

Like Olivia and Ava but both are very common. Harry is cute as is Charlie. I LOVE Noah- word of warning, I have a Jonah (who bizarrly gets called Noah regularly by mistake- haha) and LOTS of people don't like it, too Christian, too unlucky (?), too unusual. Even my own Mother hated it.

I love the fact that ds has an unusual name but it does get a strong reaction. It also depends on what the sprog looks like too- why not wait and see? We were going to call ds 'hector', took one look at his red hair and thought 'we can't do it to him. he's not a hector or a tobias or jenson', all the names we had liked. DD otoh, looked just like her name.

Let us know what you decide and good luck

Only one of your girl's names I really don't like is Roxanne. I just sort of think 'foxy roxy' and don't think it's a child's name - more of a porn star name - sorry!

I like Ava and April best from your list.

Boys - don't like Hayden at all. Don't mind Charlie or harry.

schneebly · 17/08/2008 10:59

April and Noah

Stars22 · 17/08/2008 14:50

Roxanne (Roxie) - reminds me of Eastenders.
Ava - I like it, although it is very popular, a slightly prefer the more classic Eva.
Olivia - very nice
April - horrible 80s name

Boys;
Hayden - noooo
Lucas - love it
Charlie - love it but would put Charles on the certificate
Harry - love it but would put Henry on the certificate
Noah - OK

PestoMonster · 19/08/2008 12:18

I like Roxanna

also like April

For a boy I like Noah, dislike Hayden and Lucas and think Charlie and Harry are a bit over-used at the moment.

clairebear88 · 19/08/2008 14:14

Ava - v.pretty
Olivia - v.pretty
April - ok

Boys;
Hayden - ok
Lucas - love but reminds me of mucas

Weegiemum · 19/08/2008 18:12

Girls;
Roxanne (Roxie), Ava, Olivia, April

Personally I don't really like any of these. Olivia the best of them. I am realising I don't like 'girlie' names for girls, which is a category I would put these into - my dds are Katherine and Rachel.

Boys;
Hayden - no don't like at all
Lucas- not really
Charlie - OK, but name him Charles, call him Charlie
Harry - ditto - ok, a bit popular right now? Again, would give Henry, nn Harry
Noah - no.

Have to tell you why not on Noah. I've mentioned this before but it was hilarious. We were in a soft-play area once, me, a friend and dd2. Terribly posh sounding mother at the next table started shouting "Nooooo - aaaah!". Dd2 turned to us (she was having a snack) and said "hat boy hasa gotta big boat!" (she was just 3). "Noooooo-ahhhhhh". "And Mummy he hasa gotta lotta aminals!" I dont know if the mother heard, she didnt give any sign but dd2 was really loud.

So every time I hear the name it makes me chuckle!

Pinkchampagne · 19/08/2008 18:22

I like Ava & Olivia best from your girl list, and Harry, Charlie & Lucas from your boys list.
