Quite like Reggie - in the Alfie kind of way.

If she sticks with Reginald she will probably get the kind of comment I got when I named ds a quite unusual name, shocked face by HV then "Oh well, it's a name he will grow into!" What's THAT meant to mean?

ravenAK · 15/08/2008 23:33

FIL tried to sell it to us for ds actually. It's a family name .

It was never a goer for us, I had an unloveable Uncle Reg.

But I don't really see why not. Could be utterly retro cool in a couple of years

ravenAK · 15/08/2008 23:37

oh & definitely Reginald, not Reggie, if she goes for it.

Diminutives as legal first names = lifetime PITA explaining that it's not 'really' Reginald.

Peachy · 15/08/2008 23:40

Really Reginald is a no in my book

there are few names I loathe more

Janni · 15/08/2008 23:55

What janeite said. Only with more 'ooo's.

CrushWithEyeliner · 16/08/2008 08:08

hatrick - are they really? Oh nooooo!

hw2004 · 16/08/2008 20:52

I have to say i don't like it but then i'm not keen on the whole 'Alfie, Archie, Ronnie' thing really.

I do think there will be a comeback of little 'Reggies' soon though. I know one and there was a baby on This Morning the other day called it. Not my cup of tea.

lizinthesticks · 16/08/2008 21:21

"you would have to be as cool as Vernon Kay to get away with a name like Vernon or Reginald"

As cool as Vernon Kay??? Sorry - no way is that possible. I mean - that's so unimaginably impossible. Pour in boiling water and that dude will piss you a bucket of ice cubes.

3andnomore · 16/08/2008 22:24

I know a 10 year old called Reggie...and whilst he is a lovely boy, I still don't like the name.
Also know a 20 year old Reginald/Reggie...and well, that guy did not help anything in making me like the name,lol...
It will always remnd me of that TV character ( possibly from "The Bill"...can't remember which series, but remember the character....he was a real stickler for rules and a bit odd)

3andnomore · 16/08/2008 22:27

lizinthesticks..but Vernon is actually a really cool name...unlike Reggie...well, imo

Vamonos · 16/08/2008 22:31

minouminou · 16/08/2008 23:08
