Both as names for a boy - which do you prefer and why?

I LOVE Rowan and would have it on my shortlist but dh doesn't like it for some reason. I think it's a really cute name.

Don't like Kieron but not sure why - just not my sort of name.

blowsy · 04/08/2008 20:56

Rowan as Keiran is very very prevalent ime

flowerybeanbag · 04/08/2008 20:57

Rowan. Because it's DS's name, so I'm biased.

I would spell the other name Kieran.

HumphreyPinCushion · 04/08/2008 20:57

I prefer Keiron, as my friend has a lovely son called this. He is a very cool dude.
They spell it Ciaran though.

bristols · 04/08/2008 20:57

Rowan

Piffle · 04/08/2008 20:57

keiron is weird spelling IMO
Kieran or the Gaelic Ciaran is best

berolina · 04/08/2008 20:57

Rowan

flowerybeanbag · 04/08/2008 20:58

Or Ciaran as HPC says.

Rowan as Kieran happens to be the name of every 'challenging' child I ever taught at school

ShowOfHands · 04/08/2008 20:58

I went to school with a Kieran. He was beautiful.

Rowan's popular and I think it's a girl's name.

chocamocha · 04/08/2008 21:00

Sorry - I actually meant Kieran

windyweather · 04/08/2008 21:00

Roan, that my boys name and he is toatlly gorgeous.

SilkCutMama · 04/08/2008 21:03

I'm so sorry but you dis ask - I don't like either - sorry

SaggyOldBagpuss · 04/08/2008 21:03

I have a Kieran and he is a challenging child

So I'd go for Kieran cos they may be challenging but they are lovely too

Rowans are possibly just as lovely but as I don't know any I can't say

chocamocha · 04/08/2008 21:04

That's perfectly allright SilkCutMama

I'm surprised that there are a lot of Kieran's around, I only know two who are both adults.

ilovemydog · 04/08/2008 21:07

rowan

wessexgirl · 04/08/2008 21:08

I would have had Ciaran for a boy. I really like Rowan as well though.

norkmaiden · 04/08/2008 21:13

Rowan definitely

falcon · 04/08/2008 21:19
