Does anybody like the name Kye, or is Kai a better spelling?

Kai is a better spelling and love the name (it's getting very popular though!). We used it as part of DS's middle name!

insywinsyspider · 03/08/2008 21:35

love the name and agree Kai is a better spelling

hw2004 · 03/08/2008 21:45

Don't like it - sorry

Loriycs · 03/08/2008 21:47

i didnt realise Kai was pronounced Kye, I thought it a version of Kay. Is it Oriental?

MaryAnnSingleton · 03/08/2008 21:47

no

angel1976 · 03/08/2008 21:51

Kai is used a lot in Chinese names though I agree that it is not just the Chinese who use it! We use it as part of DS's name as he is half-Chinese and has a Chinese middle name but I have seen it used as a first name as well.

BrownSuga · 03/08/2008 21:53

Kai is the maori (NZ) word for food.

onthepier · 03/08/2008 23:34

Kai originally comes from Sweden, a very old name although it sounds modern!

Kai means sea in Hawaiian. I don't think Kye exists though.

DS1 has a friend called Kai.

Don't spell it Kye or you'll be on that thread about strange spellings of names.

Kye looks like half the name is missing.
Sorry.
