Sunday Joy, and this was before Nicol Kidman had her child.

ninedragons · 03/08/2008 04:00

I saw a discussion on another board about a six-year-old girl called Mrkyri-Phox (pron. Mercury Fox) who comes home in tears every night asking for her name to be changed to Sophie.

In due course, I hope she sticks her stupid, egotistical wanker parents in the nastiest retirement home she can find.

belgo · 03/08/2008 06:31

Seven for a girl.

SquiffyHock · 03/08/2008 06:41

Mercedes-Summer. Wouldn't be two names that I would think to hyphenate!
Puck for a boy.

Loriycs · 03/08/2008 10:28

Puck!, now his peers will have fun with that one!

I think maybe because they are the type of names used on programmes like neighbours

yes soap operas have a lot to answer for when it comes to influencing the names of a generation.

Alfie springs to mind.

BINAH · 03/08/2008 10:40

fedra
bilah

belgo · 03/08/2008 10:41

Binah - I think Fedra is another spelling of the flemish girl's name Phaedra

Loriycs · 03/08/2008 10:41

Fimbo - do you live in SE London - there was a little boy at DDs old school called Rooney but he was too old to be named after wayne!

Can you magine having a kid then a big offish brute of a man coming along and everyone thinking your child was named after them?

Loriycs · 03/08/2008 10:44

you've reminded me, I used to know Finnish girl called Lenita, i always liked her name.

CoteDAzur · 03/08/2008 10:46

Mercedes IS a girl's name! The car was named after the daughter of the financier who invested in the car company at the time. ("I'll give you the money but you need to name the cars after my little girl").

If anyone read the book "Count of Monte-Cristo", the guy's lover who marries another man is called "Mercedes".

belgo · 03/08/2008 10:48

yes Mercedes might be a girl's name but Mercedes-Summer is incredibly unusual which is what this thread is asking for.

I'm annoyed that there is a car called 'Elise' as it was on my names list.
