I have a son who has a surname sOunding name. It is quite unusual but not unheard of. I am now pregnant again due early december and can't think of any other surname sounding names for boys that don't sound really chavvy, anyone got any ideas? Got names for a girl sorted its just a boys name that will go with our son's name that we are struggling on. All suggestions more than welcome!

Welsh boys' names can be used either as first or surnames - so Lloyd, Owen, Evan etc. etc. etc.

Knox. A la Brangelina's.

Madison?

clpsmum · 31/07/2008 19:36

quite like Madison for a girl but not sure about it for a boy. Thanks everybody though you have given me loads of ideas and hopefully there will be some that even my dh will like. Am spoilt for choice now and if you think of anymore please let me know. Raahh glad you had a girl too! am not keen on sumner either. Really like Riley and Murphy but our surname is Irish do you think it would be too much to have Riley or Murphy too?(considering i am English and DH is Scottish!)

I really like Harrison and love Jefferson but only if he didn't end up being called Jeff.

gegs73 · 31/07/2008 19:55

I also know a Johnston, quite like that too.

NB - I'm not overly keen on Gilbraith due to the associations with Kenyesian economic theory, but it did make a friend's shortlist.

Does Stanley count?
