I quite like it but stupid people will probably call her Anna all the time and she will spend her life correcting them.

brimfull · 13/07/2008 22:48

Tatties · 13/07/2008 22:48

Well I would HOPE it's not a silly no name . It's lovely and people will NOT keep calling her Anna, they will comment on what a beautiful name she has.

Heated · 13/07/2008 22:51

Think it is lovely

berolina · 13/07/2008 22:52

It is a very common name in Germany (spelt Anja). I know several - one of ds2's godmothers is one. I think it's nice enough but am not mad on it. It's certainly not silly though.

Mavornia · 13/07/2008 22:52

I think it's lovely and goes very well with Grace and Maya.

It's different without being weird

geminigirl · 13/07/2008 22:53

Oh I love this name!! It goes perfectly with the other two names.

Spaghettiarms · 13/07/2008 22:54

Shit, just said it with my surname, it doesn't really go!

Anya Owens - doesn't sound quite right.

pgwithnumber3 · 13/07/2008 23:01

OP posts:
Elkat · 14/07/2008 01:21

Yes, I think Anya is lovely

wrinklytum · 14/07/2008 01:27

I think it is a very pretty name.

littlewoman · 14/07/2008 01:40

Anya is how the Russians pronounce Anna ( I've a friend by this name. I call her Anna, her Russian friend calls her Anya). It's not a 'no-name'. Honestly.

I think its lovely. My DB called me that when he was a toddler as he couldn't say Andrea.

pgwithnumber3 · 14/07/2008 11:12

Does it go with the surname OWENS though? Anya Owens?

OP posts:
littlewoman · 14/07/2008 11:16

That's the problem when the christian name ends with a vowel and the surname begins with one. They can tend to run into each other. Mine does the same. But maybe it just sounds strange because you're not used to hearing the name Anya Owens. Repeat it till you are used to it, and then decide, maybe?

NotQuiteCockney · 14/07/2008 11:18

Yeah, it sounds a bit odd, with that surname. As littlewoman says, the two names blend together, and you end up saying Ann Yowens.

littlewoman · 14/07/2008 11:20

Or Anya Rowens

Ohireallyshouldnt · 14/07/2008 11:22

I also have too many vowels in the first and surnames, so have the same problem... I lOVE the name Anya(my names Anna), but, and i hesitate to say it, might Anya Owens, said quickly, sound a little bit too like "On your own"?
