It gets a thumbs down from me.

merryandmad · 08/07/2008 19:43

flowerybeanbag · 08/07/2008 19:44

ProfessorGrammaticus · 08/07/2008 19:46

Is it African?

OomphreyCushion · 08/07/2008 19:46

Kizzy reminds me of a character in a television programme when I was a young 'un.

Heated · 08/07/2008 19:47

I know it's Biblical but it's not one I warm to.

artichokes · 08/07/2008 19:48

As you asked for all views I will admit that I don't like it at all.

Collision · 08/07/2008 19:48

kizzy was a gipsy girl from a tv prog when i was little

i like it

blithedance · 08/07/2008 19:49

Keziah: a fantastic name - one of Job's beautiful daughters. Good friends of ours chose it for their daughter, it doesn't get shortened AFAIK, I think the diminutive spoils it TBH.

BellaBear · 08/07/2008 19:50

It's from the bible. I think it means cinnamon tree in hebrew (but woukd be pronounce ketz-ee-a). She was a daughter of Job. I've seen it spelled kezia which I prefer.

Definitely a real name though!

I know an 11 month old Kezia, I like it

Sparkletastic · 08/07/2008 19:50

Not keen - sounds very common [snob emoticon]

artichokes · 08/07/2008 19:50

to be fair to the OP it is not made-up. It is biblical:

Job 42:13-16:

He also had seven sons and three daughters. He named the first Jemimah, the second Keziah, and the third Keren-happuch. In all the land there were no women so beautiful as Job's daughters; and their father gave them an inheritance along with their brothers. After this Job lived one hundred and forty years, and saw his children, and his children's children, four generations.Job 42:13-16.

Lots of cross posts!

blithedance · 08/07/2008 19:52

Thanks Collision

I have been trying for months to remember the name of that programme about the gipsy girl!

I liked the name because Christian parents (and I know a lot) often go for all Biblical names, with the result being an overload of Bethanys, Naomis and Esthers in the average Sunday school. Keziah is unusual but still meaningful.

Name of the Didicoy to be exact, program on tv in the 1970s

Jbck · 08/07/2008 19:54

It's nice but prefer Jemimah if you're going down tha biblical line for a reason.

TsarChasm · 08/07/2008 19:54

I remember that programme!

LynetteScavo · 08/07/2008 19:55

There is a Keziah (Kez ee ah) In DS's class - she's not at all chavvy.

DH has asked when is Kez ee ah, and when is it Kez eye ah?

blithedance · 08/07/2008 19:56

Yes Malory, those are perfectly lovely names but nobody goes for them do they? Bring on Keren-Happuch, that's what I say.
