Hello!
we are due baby no3 very soon and having difficulties settling on a name for him.
we already have 2 boys. DS1 is Tobias (Toby) and DS2 is Sullivan (Sully)

we’ve narrowed it down to the following:
Rupert
Austin
Sebastian

any thoughts on these names? or any other suggestions? Middle name will be Thomas.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Sasha
Jonah
Jasper

Helenbelena · 07/10/2026 18:13

I like Austin.

Sebastian is quite long and may get shortened to Seb which isn’t so nice (reminds me of sebaceous)

I really dislike Rupert.

How about
Reuben
Quentin
Raphael

ToKittyornottoKitty · 07/10/2026 18:18

If you call it Rupert please don’t shorten it to Rupy to match the other kids names. Although Sully isn’t a good nic name either.

Austin is the best if your list.

PivotPivotmakingmargaritas · 07/10/2026 18:24

Toby , Sully and Christopher (Kit)

Toby, Sully and William - Will or Billy

Toby, Sully and Jacob ( Jake)

While your names are ok considering you have two with clear nicknames your three chosen names don’t have great nicknames

Just don’t do Michael - Mike as sully and Mike are from Monsters Inc- although an old reference now isn’t it

Cocktailsandcheese · 07/10/2026 19:51

I like Austin the best

HugoThatway · 07/10/2026 20:05

From your list, Austin.
Not Quentin, it's awful.

Firebird83 · 07/10/2026 20:34

Austin

The op was looking for suggestions. I personally like Quentin :) Quinn is a cute nickname imo.

I’m not keen on Rupert and agree that I certainly wouldn’t follow the same trend as with the other boys and shorten to Rupy!

IsThePopeCatholic · 07/10/2026 20:37

Not keen on those 3 names.
How about Silas, Rudy, Finn?

DramaAlpaca · 07/10/2026 20:38

Austin is nice.

CherryKerry · 07/10/2026 20:41

Nathaniel
Elliot
Christopher

Absolutely not Rupert unless you are going to inherit a title along the lines of Duke or Earl, hideous name.

Myswweetchild · 07/10/2026 20:54

Love your names @Cactuscandle
I like Sebastian the most
I'm loving John, Joseph?

Mumofgirls2017 · 07/10/2026 22:16

I Think Rupert is perfect! Other suggestions. Tobias, Sullivan and

nathaniel
gabriel
elijah
jonah
micah
rufus
christopher
nicholas
zachary
rafferty
maxwell
xavier
xander
lawrence
vincent

Excellentsausages · 07/10/2026 22:20

Rupert with Ru as a shortening is fine. I don't think it has the posh connotations any more in real life.

Sebastian is nice but I really dislike Seb.

Not a fan of Austin.

Thomas is my favourite by a long way of the names on your list.

Norastroud · 07/10/2026 22:52

I like Austin the best! Goes so well with your other boys names, it’s also unusual but not unheard of, I’m surprised it’s not more popular!

Eggybreadwithnuts · 07/10/2026 22:53

LOVE Sebastian 💙

BigWig78 · 07/10/2026 22:55

Not Sebastian as you’ve already got an S

Austin BM Ozzy (Auzy?) is cute and Rupert with Roo (Ru?) as a nn is also sweet

Theyre both nice but you your others having “ay” sounds at the end of their names id go for Rupert/Ru personally. If you have another ay name you’d need to go for #4 to “finish” the list 🤣

Firsttimebabymummy · 08/10/2026 07:52

Sebastian is my favourite from your list! I like the nn Seb though- only known nice ones.

Not keen on Rupert or Austin.

Reuben instead of Rupert?
Elliott
Christopher
You might like Barnaby, Finnegan?

Dee51121 · 08/10/2026 11:05

I wouldn't want another S name. There's a Sebastian at my daughter's nursery and he's nicknamed Sebby - maybe you'd avoid using that as a nickname, but if you were to fall into it it's similar sounding to Sully. Based on that, I'd go for one of your other two choices.

Raiderofthelostbattenburg · 08/10/2026 11:08

All lovely names! Few other suggestions -

Ezra
Victor
Laurence/ Larry
Jonah

Pumpkinsaregrowingnicely · 08/10/2026 11:10

Surname unitial ?
Eg Sebastian Thomas I =STI..not good !

That’s the problem with Sebastian. It’s quite long and the nicknames are awful imo - Seb, Sebbie, Basty….

LoveHearts69 · 08/10/2026 12:27

What about Benjamin (Benji/Benny) or Oscar (Ozzy)

LoudPlumDog · 08/10/2026 15:11

Tobias, Sullivan and Rupert Thomas.

I do like Austin, but you already have one with the same ending so that puts me off.

Suggestions …

Avery
Everett
Fraser
Bartholomew
Wyndham
William
Jonah

mummysmagicmedicine · 08/10/2026 20:04

I absolutely love them all and they fit perfectly with your current boy’s names and the middle name Thomas. I like that they can be shortened too to Rue, Ozzy or Seb just like how your other sons have nicknames. Some more suggestions if you need:

Frederick (Freddie/Fred)
Arthur (Arty)
Wilfred (Wilf)
Alexander (Alex/Xander)
Montgomery (Monty)
Christopher (Kit)
Reginald (Reg/Reggie)
Edwin (Ed)
Edward (Ed/Teddy)
Hendrix (Henry)
Phillip (Pip)
Leopold (Leo)
