Boy name: Cal vs Callan or Calvin

So me and my husband both LOVE the name Cal. In my opinion, Cal is a nickname and I like the full names of either Callan or Calvin. That way he can still go by Cal but have the option when he's an adult of going by a more formal name if he wants. My husband says he's not a fan of any of the full names that Cal comes from so we should just name him Cal as his full name. I'm not against it necessarily, I just have always thought of Cal as a nickname, not a full name. Thoughts and opinions please???

I really like Callan, or Cailean if you’d want a Gaelic name?

I’m with you though, Cal is a nickname and not a full name!

Callum
Caleb
Callahan.

not a fan of Calvin or callan either.

you could always go like

Cal “middle name” so they have an option.

or
eg
Joshua Cal smith and you just call him Cal.

all the males on dads side are

David something . Nobody is David

I love Callan but not Calvin.

There are other names that start with Cal.
Calum, Caleb, Callahan, Caliban ...

I really like Callan. I’ve not heard it before but it’s a lovely warm sound.

I don’t like the religious associations of Calvin.

I would go with a longer name. I know a little boy with a similar very short name, and even now he’s at school it seems a little odd.

I like Callan a lot. Not so much Calvin.
Do you like Callum or Caleb?

@pinkdyno , David is popular where I live.
