Is Francis too feminine sounding?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Not really. I think people know Frances is the girl's spelling. Will be be Frank? If so, no worries. I know a young Frank. I like it!

amy480 · Yesterday 14:34

I think so. The two men I know with the name are called Franky and Frank, I’ve never known them to be called by their actual name.

When I see Francis , I think Rossi
Nothing feminine there .
( Lead singer of Status Quo to save you looking him up 😃)

Taught a lovely Francis. He was known as Fran.
I don’t think it sounds feminine.

Hoork · Yesterday 15:27

No not at all. It’s a really nice name!

I just immediately thought of that pope that died, Pope Francis.

Firebird83 · Yesterday 20:24

My DS has a friend called Francis. It’s a good name, quite underused.

RemindMeIn15Minutes · Yesterday 20:47

I love it. It’s one of my favourite names.

AllPlayedOut · Yesterday 20:48

It’s a very wet and very unattractive name imo and Frank is even worse.

muddyford · Yesterday 20:50

One of my favourite names. And it's 800 years on 4 October since St Francis died.

brisamarina · Yesterday 22:33

Love it. Was in my shortlist for boys names, but I got a girl. I think it’s very timeless but also quite cool

Ooh, a rave from the grave! And of course there is Sir Francis Drake, who managed to sail all the way round the globe. And Sir Francis Chichester who managed to sail a yacht as opposed to a galleon around the globe. And SIr Francis Walsingham, ruthless spymaster for Elizabeth I.
Yup, a really girly name, innit?

Tobacco · Yesterday 22:42

I like Francis. It doesn't seem feminine to me

Snugglemonkey · Yesterday 22:52

I like Francis. I do not think it is girly. I know a very mans man called Fran and it suits him.

AnywayYouLike · Yesterday 22:52

For a boy, no it wouldn't be to my taste as it's more of a pretty girl's name to me (I know it's spelt differently). I can't take it seriously for a boy.

It reminds me of a guy I used to work with called Lyn. I always thought he must hate having a feminine-sounding name.

CrispyK · Yesterday 22:53

Francis Bourgeois! (though not his real name)

LiquoriceAllsorts2 · Today 07:23

I really like it

FoxMouseRat · Today 08:13

Great, classic and underused name. Frank is such a solid masculine name too.
