New baby name suggestions to suit Archie and our Scottish roots

Needing help with a boy and girls name.
We don’t yet know what we’re having.
We currently have a son called Archie who is 7.
His name was partly chosen because we both have strong Scottish roots and a Scottish surname.

We like:

Frederick (Freddie)

Any with a similar vibe would be great as suggestions!

In Scotland, Atticus and Rupert would probably be assumed to be English.

Have you had a look at the Scottish baby names for 2025? You’ll get a sense of which Scottish names are popular and which general names are popular in Scotland.

If you are looking for an obviously Scottish name, like Archie, I’d go with Angus, Flora or Bonnie from your list. Depending where you live, I might consider Isobel. It’s been called old fashioned up thread but it is probably due a renaissance.

You're clearly not Scottish because only Angus and Flora are Scottish on your list, the majority are English (especially Frederick and Rupert). And Isobel or Ishbel are the Scottish spellings, not Isabella.

I have a Euan (although I’m not sure I’d spell it that way!) for my Scottish roots!

She said she liked the names, not that the names are Scottish. There's nothing there to imply that OP is not Scottish.

If you look at the names registered in 2025 in Scotland, most of the names are not Scottish.

Her thread title is: New baby name suggestions to suit Archie and our Scottish roots which suggests she wants Scottish names so it's surprising that she has some very English names in her list since e.g Rupert does not 'suit their Scottish roots'. Whether Scottish names are currently popular in Scotland is neither here nor there for the purpose of this discussion. Muhammad is the most popular boys name in England and Luca is number four but I don't think many people would suggest either of those as 'English' names.

@FruAashild , I read it as 'We have a boy called Archie and we picked the name because we liked it and it has a Scottish vibe. We now need a name for his sibling. These are the sort of names we like and we want that sort of vibe but with a nod to our Scottish heritage.'

My partner is half Scottish and my grandfather was Scottish.
My partner has a Scottish surname and we are planning to get married soon, so we’ll both have it.

I liked the names I shared, I know they’re not all strictly Scottish , maybe I should have been clearer in my OP, but I would like a Scottish feel , like Archie.

She's clearly not Scottish because she wouldn't talk about her 'Scottish roots' if she was and the names she has listed are not names that anyone Scottish would describe as Scottish (with the exceptions of Angus), they'd list traditional Scottish names or names that have long been associated with Scotland. Anyway, she's clarified.
