Difference of one letter

To think one letter difference in a name can create such a different feel and style yet people often suggest a rhyming name if a poster can’t use a name due to
it being used by family or friends.
If I like Harry, I probably won’t consider Garry or Barry. What other names have a letter or two difference but a completely different vibe to you.

All of them! The initial letter would always totally change a name.

I think even Annabelle and Annabel have different vibes.

i know there are lots of names , different by only one letter but do they have the same feel to you? If someone couldn’t use Louisa would you suggest Louise or is it different? Some names feel very different to me

I’m just reflecting when a poster says : I like these names what else would I like , a rhyme or similar isn’t necessarily the same.

Agree with PP than even names with identical pronunciations can feel very different due to their spellings.

@SunwaysSystemsme too, I really like Annabel, wouldn’t swap for Annabelle as it’s too frilly for me, appreciate it could be the opposite for you. It’s weird how it should be a simple solution but one letter or a spelling and it’s not the same feel.

The suggestions made often puzzle me because the vibe is different or the suggestions seem wildly different.

Even something like Toby and Toby short for Tobias have different vibes for me.

My names Clare which I hate anyway but it makes me seethe when people spell it wrong I can put up with Claire but I hate Clair.

Jodie is confident sounding name but Joni is vintage and retro.

i love Elsa but hate Ella.

I love the look of the name Lily but not so much the sound but hate Lilly

I love Helena but not so much Helen. Same with Natalia and Natalie I think because all but one who was lovely all the Natalie’s I knew growing up were bitches plus there’s always the chance of the Na’lee pronunciation.

I also think there’s a huge difference in vibe between Jane and Jade

Gracie and Cassie also have completely different vibes the than Lacey and Casey

Ken and Len have a similar vibe to each other but very different from Ben.

Lacey and Lucy are different vibes. As are Paul and Saul. And Max and Jax. Jake and Blake. Theo and Rio. Minnie and Millie. Lisa and Isla.

I'm not very keen on the name Amelia but love the Dutch form of it ~ Amalia

I also love the name Jonathan but think the spelling some people choose, Johnathan, looks awful

I dislike Julie but love Julia

And Anne and Anna also have a very different vibe as do Simon & Simeon

But I think Grace and Gracie are both lovely

I feel that the “a” ending does make a difference to the feel, but thus could be because I knew two sets of sisters - Louisa, Joanna and Sophia / Joanne, Sophie, Louise. The first set were hard work, precious and self important; the second set were much more down to Earth, happy to muck in etc.

I agree it reallt changes the vibe. Not just one letter difference but different start end/sounds

I have never liked Laura even when I had friends named that. Henry is leagues better than pathetic Harry. Millie is the best out of those and Polly makes me think of a Victorian maid.
