Why has Felicity become trendy?

I love the name Felicity but have noticed that it's become trendy. It used to be an unusual name but experienced a (seemingly random) sudden rise in popularity. It's quite literally everywhere now. Why is this? Did some celebrity or 'influencer' name their child Felicity? Has there been a character called Felicity? I've had to take it off the list. I just can't do trendy names as they always date terribly. By trendy, I'm referring to names that experience a sudden rise in usage, usually due to a cultural phenomenon, when they were once uncommon.

I don’t know any Felicity’s or have met any.

I know one Felicity (4 years old). I think it's a lovely name.

Hopefully 'the Young Ones' is long forgotten otherwise everyone will be quoting Rik's poem about Felicity Kendal.

I think it was Isla Fisher, plus it fits with the trend of names starting and ending in a vowel with soft consonants.

Have never met anyone called Felicity. I like it though.

I love the name Felicity. My husband does not. I have never come across one as a teacher. I did go to school with one a year or two older than me.

I know a couple of felicitys! (I do not have a horse. One of them did though). It’s also quite a literary name .

I loved it, DH absolutely did not, we chose another random chalet school type name which has a lot of variants in different countries.

Yes, it’s a terrible name. Definitely to the Pony Club vibes.

(I know the Thelwell child was called Penny, but this is pure Felicity vibes for me.)

Not at all common. Only know of one child with the name.

I love this name! It would shortlisted for me if I had another baby. However it just reminds me of the Mallory Towers books, I've never actually met anyone called Felicity.

Looking at the dark greener name website, it was briefly in the top 100 on 2018/2019ish but seems to be declining in popularity now and is at around 150.

I know two; one would be 40 now and the other is four. I really like it!

I know of two but they are both in their 40s - both go by the name of Flick.

My Felicity is 17,never had another one in her nursery, primary or secondary school. Not one at her 6th form college either!! Her older sister is Hattie and the same applies to her, plus none at Uni!!

I’m not the biggest fan of Felicity - if you’re not careful it can be very twee. There’s a news reader in our area called Felicity Simper and I always wonder what her parents were thinking to saddle her with such a wet lettuce name!

I'm in my 60s and have never met a Felicity - or even heard of one, apart from Felicity Kendall. (Maybe I've led a sheltered life.)

But I do know a 10yo Hattie. And isn't there an actor called Hattie Hayridge?

Both are nice names, I think.
