What do you think of Galilea for a girl? We live in the UK, and it's obviously an unusual name here. My husband is an American of Mexican heritage, so it is more common in the country that his parents are from. His parents and siblings still live in the US, so we don't get to see them as often as my family and wanted to choose a name that honours their side of the family. Gal-ih-lee-ah is my preferred pronunciation, but my husband prefers gal-ih-lay-ah. I do like every pronunciation though so would go with his preference. I guess we're just worried that the spelling and pronunciation will be too complicated in the UK.

I don’t often outright laugh at these threads but seriously!? Are you guys physicists, or Israeli? What will the nn be - Gal? Lily? The mind boggles

Shortenings could be Gigi, Gal, Gali, Lily, Lea. Regardless, why does every name seemingly require a nn nowadays? I have a longer name that has 4 syllables and got on just fine with no nn (as I’m not keen on any of the obvious shortenings of my name). With most names, the actual name tends to be much nicer sounding than the shortenings.

Just makes me think of Jesus. Not Queen.

Yep it’s just set Bohemian Rhapsody going off in my head and that’ll be going round all day now… 😫

So it’s a no from me. Another ‘trying hard to be unique’ name.

Honestly, I have one of those dull common names that dates me to a certain generation, and I would much rather have been called a ‘trying hard to be unique’ name. Just adding another perspective.

Queen

I really like it and thought of the Biblical association not Queen
